Justin Fields, QB, Chicago Bears
For all the disappointing players, specifically at QB this year, Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields has been one of the best stories with how his play has taken another step forward. After three straight top-eight performances, Fields had a monster day, passing for only 123 yards on 17 of 28 passing with three touchdowns with no interceptions while piling up 178 yards against the Dolphins.
Fields sits as the QB7 on the season at 19.0 PPR/game, and since Week 5, Fields is the overall QB1 and QB3 per game (25.9 PPR). With Darnell Mooney and Cole Kmet finally being used, plus the addition of Chase Claypool, Fields is playing the best ball of his career and is a locked-in QB1 as he comes in as the QB9 in our 2022 rest-of-season fantasy football rankings.
Dameon Pierce, RB, Houston Texans
At this point, it’s clear those with the 1.01 are taking a substantial loss on drafting Jonathan Taylor. The offense is a mess, and at this point, Dameon Pierce joins the list of Josh Jacobs, Travis Etienne, and Kenneth Walker III as RBs that have passed Taylor in the rest-of-season rankings.
Pierce has been a man possessed as of late. His 139 yards in Week 9 sat a new season high, and he now has six-straight double-digit performances and has 80 yards or more on the ground in five of the last six. He has averaged 24 opportunities per game since Week 3, and with every carry makes us wonder why Florida misused him so badly. Fantasy managers are not doing the same, as Pierce is the second-highest ranked rookie RB of the class in our rest-of-season rankings for 2022.
Amari Cooper, WR, Cleveland Browns
Do you remember a few months ago when everyone was down on Amari Cooper? Yeah, about that one. Cooper has been sensational with the Browns despite playing with Jacoby Brissett and not Deshaun Watson. Safe to say a different tune is being sung by managers, as Cooper had another great outing, catching five of his seven targets for 131 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals.
Cooper now sits as the WR12 in PPR formats and 13th in per-game scoring (15.4 PPR). He sits tied for 16th in targets at 66 but has the 11th-highest target share at 27.6% and is seventh in air yard share at 39.9%. He is also 13th in yards (556) and has the third-most receiving touchdowns (5) despite Cleveland sitting 21st in passing plays per game (32.0).
With Watson’s debut looming (Week 13), Cooper should only go up in value, assuming the passing volume increases with him under center. After all, you don’t trade, sign, and deal with all the backlash for nothing. Cooper is a high-end WR2 but could hit the top ten if things break right for Cooper with Watson.
