As we head into the weekend, injuries will play a large part in the decisions you make when setting your lineup. Let’s take a look at the fantasy football injury report for running backs around the league. It’s been a hard-hit position this year. Are things looking up for Week 8?
Update: For the most recent updates, make sure to check out our up-to-date Week 8 Fantasy Football Injury Report.
Fantasy Football RB Injury Report | AFC
We’ll start with some big names in the AFC worth monitoring.
Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers
Austin Ekeler popped up on the injury report on Thursday with a mysterious hip injury, and it sidelined him from both Thursday and Friday practices. His status is very much in question for Sunday.
Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns look to be slowly returning to full strength, as quarterback Baker Mayfield and running back Nick Chubb are both expected to play on Sunday.
Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts
Indy’s star running back, Jonathan Taylor, has been nursing a rib injury this week, but he was a full participant in practice on Thursday. He’s good to go for a big divisional game against the Tennessee Titans.
Darrel Williams, Kansas City Chiefs
Darrel Williams, who has been filling in nicely for the injured Clyde Edwards-Helaire, was a full participant in practice after dealing with a slight hamstring injury. He looks to be ready to go for Sunday.
Week 8 Fantasy RB Injury Update | NFC
Let’s switch over to the NFC side of things, where the injuries are equally as prevalent.
Miles Sanders, Philadelphia Eagles
Miles Sanders was placed on IR with the ankle/foot injury he sustained last week. He’ll be on the shelf for at least three games, with Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott slated to get the work for the Eagles.
Saquon Barkley, New York Giants
Saquon Barkley did not log any practice time this week, instead spending the week working on the side with trainers. He has not yet been ruled out, but his status is very much questionable at this point.
D’Andre Swift, Detroit Lions
This is the obligatory update about D’Andre Swift to answer the question of “is D’Andre Swift going to play” because you saw the little red “Q” next to his name. He’s listed as questionable every week, yet he always balls out. He’s playing, so start him.
Antonio Gibson, Washington Football Team
Antonio Gibson looks like, somehow, he’s going to continue to play through his fractured shin. He’s not listed on the final injury report for the first time since Week 3, so perhaps Washington feels that he has healed from his shin injury. With only a total of 24 carries and 5 targets over the last two games, however, it’s safe not to expect elite RB1 usage or production. Temper your expectations.
