Fantasy Football Injury Report: QB update

How are the signal-callers faring?

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

While being taken down, Patrick Mahomes was struck in the head by an opposing defender’s leg and struggled to get back up. Mahomes was eventually helped off the field by teammates. He was showing what seemed to be concussion-like symptoms. The star QB went into the blue medical tent on the sidelines to be evaluated for a concussion, but to the surprise of many, passed concussion tests. While this is a great sign, Mahomes’ status will need to be monitored moving into Week 8.

Zach Wilson, New York Jets

In the second quarter of New York’s 54-13 loss to the Patriots, Zach Wilson suffered a knee injury and did not return to the game. Wilson will undergo an MRI on his knee Monday. Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters the team “initially” feels good about the severity of Wilson’s injury. However, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported the initial belief is that Wilson suffered an injury to his PCL.

Ralph Vacchiano of SNY reports Wilson said he heard a “pop” in his knee and that his knee feels “loose.” Backup Mike White came on in relief of Wilson and finished the game.

Fantasy Football Injury Report: RB update

How is the injury bug affecting RB committees heading into Week 8?

Miles Sanders, Philadelphia Eagles

Miles Sanders was ruled out after suffering an ankle injury in the first half against the Raiders. Initially, the team listed Sanders as questionable, but he was ruled out after being carted back to the locker room. He had 30 yards on 6 rushes on the day. Should this injury force Sanders to miss time, rookie Kenneth Gainwell could see an increased role, with Boston Scott spelling in relief.

Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders ruled Josh Jacobs out for the second half of Week 7’s game against the Eagles due to a chest injury. Jacobs was initially listed as questionable prior to heading to the locker room before halftime. He totaled 68 yards and a TD before exiting. The Raiders have a bye week in Week 8, giving Jacobs an additional week to recover. However, should this be a multi-week injury, Kenyan Drake would be a must-start in Week 9 against the New York Giants.

Ty Johnson, New York Jets

Ty Johnson exited Sunday’s game against the Patriots to be evaluated for a concussion. He did return to the game a bit later. Johnson rushed 5 times for 6 yards while adding 6 receptions on 7 targets for 65 yards.

Malcolm Brown, Miami Dolphins

Malcolm Brown injured his quadriceps during the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Falcons and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. He had 3 carries for 10 yards and caught his only target for -1 yard.

WR Injury Update for Week 8

News for pass catchers is essential in PPR leagues. These are the fantasy-relevant WRs currently on the NFL’s Week 8 injury report.

Dyami Brown, Washington Football Team

Dyami Brown was forced from Sunday’s game against the Packers with a knee injury. Brown was able to leave the field under his own power after aggravating his existing knee issue. However, he was limping noticeably and appeared to be in considerable discomfort on the sidelines. Brown first injured his knee back in Week 4 and subsequently missed Week 5.

Jaylen Waddle, Miami Dolphins

Jaylen Waddle exited Sunday’s matchup against the Falcons with an apparent ankle injury after being rolled up on from behind. Luckily, Waddle was able to return after testing his ankle on the sidelines. He recorded 7 receptions for 83 yards on 8 targets.

TE Injury Update for Week 8

Which tight end injuries should we be mindful of when setting our fantasy lineups?

Darren Waller, Las Vegas Raiders

Prior to kickoff, Darren Waller was ruled out for the Raiders’ Week 7 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles. Waller strained the inner side of the ankle and heel during practice Friday when he was tripped by a teammate. He was questionable to play, but with his injury “not feeling great” and Las Vegas having a bye in Week 8, the team opted to sit their star TE.

Jonnu Smith, New England Patriots

Jonnu Smith exited Sunday’s game against the Jets after suffering a shoulder injury, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. He was later ruled out for the remainder of the game after catching both of his targets for 52 yards while also recording 2 carries for 5 yards.
