DFS Sunday Night Football Picks for Jets vs. Steelers: Breece Hall, Najee Harris, Davante Adams Highlight Week 7

Close out a great day of football right with what we hope is a winning DFS lineup for "Sunday Night Football" between the Jets and Steelers.

Daily fantasy football is a completely different beast than season-long. Succeeding in single-game DFS is even more of a challenge. We have an interesting “Sunday Night Football” game between the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers. Here are my top DFS picks for Week 7 SNF.

Week 6 DFS Pick: Captain Breece Hall

The Jets’ coaching changes may not have led to a win last week against the Buffalo Bills, but they did lead to a much different and more competent offense. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich wisely followed through with former head coach Robert Saleh’s plan to strip Nathaniel Hackett of play-calling duties, leading to the Jets’ best offensive showing in a month.

Included in these changes was a recommitment to Hall as the clear RB1. Hall’s snap and opportunity share had declined in the previous two games in favor of more touches for rookie Braelon Allen. Hall saw 15 opportunities in Week 4 and 13 opportunities in Week 5.

Last week, Hall saw 24 opportunities, which he turned into 169 total yards. The only thing missing from his stellar performance was a touchdown. He probably should’ve scored on this play.

This week, the Jets should once again look to move the ball on the ground against a Steelers defense that, according to Denny Carter’s Funnel Report, has “seen their opponents go 10% below their expected pass rate this season.”

Expect the Jets to lean on Hall again and for him to find the end zone for the first time since Week 3.

Week 6 DFS Pick: Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams

It’s very difficult to construct a DFS lineup without at least one of the quarterbacks. There’s an obvious negative correlation between having both Rodgers and Hall, but there are only so many options in a single-game slate.

Rodgers threw for a season-high 294 yards and two touchdowns against the Bills last week. To be fair, a big chunk of that came on a halftime Hail Mary.

Nevertheless, Rodgers has thrown two touchdowns in four of his last five games. With his buddy Adams making his Jets debut, we’re playing on a bit of a narrative here, that Rodgers will look to get Adams a touchdown. By starting both, we are hoping to benefit doubly from the stack if it happens.

Week 6 DFS Pick: Najee Harris

I am worried about the entire Steelers offense in light of its significant downgrade at quarterback due to Mike Tomlin’s inexplicable decision to bench the 4-2 Justin Fields for the soon-to-be 36-year-old Russell Wilson who has had two teams give up on him in the past three years.

But we have to take at least one Steeler. Plus, the Jets are not prolific enough of an offense to completely load up on one side.

That brings us to Najee Harris, who is coming off his best game of the season. Against the Las Vegas Raiders, Harris ran for 106 yards and his first touchdown of the year. It was his first 100-yard rushing effort of the season.

The Jets have been far more vulnerable against the run than the pass, with their defensive rush success rate ranking as the 10th-worst in the league. Last week, we saw rookie Ray Davis do whatever he wanted on the ground. He and Ty Johnson combined to run the ball 24 times for 131 yards.

Jaylen Warren’s return does cap Harris’ receiving upside, but he is still the best bet for fantasy points on the Steelers’ side of things.

Week 6 DFS Pick: Chris Boswell and Connor Heyward

Let’s start with Heyward. This is simply a strategic decision to take the cheapest player who might possibly catch a pass or two. Heyward caught a touchdown two weeks ago against the Dallas Cowboys. Everyone else in the super cheap price range is unlikely to even play a snap. At the very least, Heyward should be around 30% and will run a handful of routes. It’s something that allows us to really beef up the rest of the lineup.

Boswell is a sneaky choice this week for several reasons. First, the Steelers won’t be as effective overall with their QB downgrade.

Second, the Jets are a great bend but don’t break defense. They allow the 11th-most fantasy points to kickers, and that would be even worse if the Bills rostered an NFL-caliber kicker who didn’t miss extra points and field goals like it was in his job description.

Boswell has quietly been one of the most effective special teamers this season. He’s only missed one kick all season, and it was from 50+ yards. Boswell has attempted multiple field goals in four of the Steelers’ six games, including all four wins. While I don’t think they win this game, it should be competitive, thus keeping field goals in play.

Boswell is the perfect price to get this lineup exactly at the cap.
