Jared Goff led the Detroit Lions to a thrilling 23-20 win against the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving. The Lions have won their last 10 games and are now 11-1 on the season.
The win against the Bears was Goff’s first on Thanksgiving, and he also won the Madden MVP award. The fans were hyped after the quarterback’s performance and praised him on social media.

Goff had the fourth-best odds to win the MVP heading into this game. Josh Allen is currently the favorite to win the award, followed by Lamar Jackson and Saquon Barkley. However, the Lions have the best record in the league, and that will help the 30-year-old quarterback’s case if other candidates’ teams slip up.
In 12 games this season, the Lions’ star has thrown for 2,982 yards, 22 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He has completed 71.8% of his throws and has a passer rating of 109.0.
Goff ranks second behind Jackson in passer rating and yards per pass attempt (8.8) and is only behind Tua Tagovailoa in completion percentage. He still has five games left in the regular season and has a decent shot of winning the first MVP award of his career.
Lions Owe Their Win on Thanksgiving to Bears HC
The Lions had a dominating first half against the Bears, but ultimately, they were lucky to come away with a win. Chicago had the chance to win or tie the game on the final drive, but clock mismanagement from Matt Eberflus paved the way for Goff’s team to win their 11th game of the season.
This wasn’t the first time this season that Eberflus cost his team a game. Eberflus was heavily criticized by many following the loss to the Lions on Thanksgiving.
“I feel like we did enough as players to win the game,” said Bears WR Keenan Allen after the game against the Lions. It further shows that even the players in Chicago are fed up with their head coach.
Detroit has proved they are the best team in the NFL, but if Chicago avoided the late-game blunder, the Lions could have easily lost the game.
Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is among the leading candidates for the Bears’ head coach position, but it will be interesting to see whether he would like to join them. He currently has a prolific group of players to work with in Detroit.
