‘What a Joke’ — Fans Take Issue With Dak Prescott’s Ranking on NFL Top 100 After Cowboys QB’s Injury-Ridden Season

Fans are pushing back on Dak Prescott’s NFL Top 100 ranking following his injury-plagued season with the Cowboys.

Few topics ignite more debate among NFL fans than the league’s annual Top 100 players list. Voted on by the players themselves, the list highlights the best talent in the game, as judged by their peers.

But every year brings controversy, and the 2025 season is no exception. The latest uproar centers around Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who made the list despite an injury-riddled 2024-25 campaign, leaving many fans questioning the rankings.

Cowboys’ Dak Prescott’s Spot on NFL Top 100 Sparks Fan Outrage

Prescott didn’t have a great season in 2024-25. He appeared in just eight games, suffering a season-ending hamstring injury in the Cowboys’ Week 9 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

Prescott struggled in those eight games, throwing for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. So, fans were none too pleased when he made the NFL Top 100 as the No. 79-ranked player.

Not surprisingly, an Eagles fan wasn’t happy with the ranking, taking to X and writing, “What a joke.”

Another fan pointed to Prescott’s lack of production in 2024-25, arguing that if he made the list, then so should Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco.

“He played…8 games and had 11 TDs and 8 INTs…Might as well put Joe Flacco in next!”

Beyond the production concerns, some users took issue with the players that Prescott was rated higher than, including Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward.

“8 games and higher than Cam Heyward. Does anyone actually take these lists seriously?” one fan wrote.

Another fan pointed out that Prescott was ranked higher than Kansas City Chiefs center Creed Humphrey, believing he deserved to be ranked much higher than the Cowboys quarterback.

“Lemme get this straight, Creed Humphrey, who played in the SB, is No. 93, but an injured Dak is 79?”

Prescott’s Peers Show Support Despite Mixed Public Opinion

It’s easy to understand why fans are frustrated with Prescott’s ranking, especially after his 2024-25 season. However, it’s important to remember who’s voting on these lists.

Media personalities don’t put together these rankings. They’re voted on by NFL players. The guys who suit up every week and line up across from these athletes cast the ballots.

That doesn’t mean the list is perfect, but it does show that NFL players may have a deeper level of respect and appreciation for Prescott’s game than the average fan.

Prescott will need to have a bounce-back season in 2025-26 to maintain his status as one of the league’s best players, but his peers still clearly hold the 2023 second-team All-Pro in high regard.
