Eagles vs. Giants Prediction
The Philadelphia Eagles continue to perform like the league’s best team week after week. Head Coach Nick Sirianni has now led this team to an 11-1 record, and it’s hard to picture an instance where they fall out of first place in the NFC over the last several games of the season.
The Eagles trail only the Kansas City Chiefs in terms of points per game up to this point of the year, and they’ve been essentially unstoppable. They’re coming off of a victory – where they scored 35 points – over the Tennessee Titans, who have proven to be one of the tougher opponents this entire season.
AJ Brown has proven to be worth every penny they paid him, and Jalen Hurts has taken massive strides as a passer, which makes them a difficult opponent to face every single week.
The defense has certainly done their part as well, though, for this team to get to 11 wins already. The Eagles are allowing the fewest passing yards per game this season, and the defense got a boost last week with the return of Jordan Davis.
The key for Philadelphia winning this matchup is to contain Saquon Barkley. The offense is going to continue cooking, but the run defense for the Eagles has suffered with Davis out of the lineup. With the pieces on the defensive line in place that Philadelphia needs to match up against someone like Barkley, they need to execute and work to contain him.
If they can do that, the Giants’ offense should sputter.
On the other side of the ball, New York continues to fight, scratch, and claw their way into keeping in on the NFC Playoff conversation. Despite having a limited WR room due to injury, Brian Daboll continues to coach his team incredibly well, and they remain competitive in these very important games.
Due to the limitations in the WR corps, the passing game for New York has suffered this year. Daniel Jones has just one game with more than 250 passing yards all season, and the Giants are a bottom-5 passing offense accordingly. Those fortunes shouldn’t change this week with a matchup against the Eagles’ defense that’s allowing the fewest passing yards per contest through 13 weeks.
The key for New York to win this matchup and stay in the NFC Playoff conversation is to feed Barkley out of the backfield. The Giants have not put up more than 20 points on offense in any game over the last three weeks, and that’s coincided with Barkley not rushing for higher than 3.55 Yards Per Attempt in any of those games.
If Barkley can get back to performing at an elite level, the Giants should keep this game close.
