Eagles vs. Patriots Game Preview
Similar to the Eagles’ Week 1 matchup, Jalen Hurts is expected to sit out against the Patriots in Week 2, giving an opportunity to Kenny Pickett, Tanner McKee, and Will Grier.
Pickett gave an impressive performance in Week 1, completing 14 of 22 passes and scoring the lone Philly touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens (a seven-yard pass to Will Shipley).
During the Patriots’ first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, third-year QBÂ Bailey Zappe spent the most time on the field, throwing for 108 yards and completing 12 of 20 passes. Milton scored a touchdown during the Week 1 matchup in the little time he spent on the field, generating a little buzz.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni talked about how players don’t have to appear in every game during the preseason. Instead, what matters most is how they work on their habits and focus on getting better both on and off the field.

He emphasized the importance of getting the basics of the game correct, like the details of blocking, tackling, ball security, catching, and more.
Fans were thrilled to see former Iowa star Cooper DeJean come off the non-football injury list, but it’s highly doubtful that he’ll be able to get on the field before the regular season. Along with DeJean, many Patriots players were seen missing practice on Monday due to injuries, including TE Albert Okwuegbunam, S Caden Sterns (knee), and LB Oren Burks.
