Former Eagles Legend Jason Kelce’s Bias Reveals Itself in Interview with Jalen Hurts – ‘Go Dominate, I Mean… I’m Independent!’

Before his Monday night return to Philly, ESPN's Jason Kelce interviewed ex-teammate Jalen Hurts, accidentally revealing his Eagles bias in the process.

The Philadelphia Eagles had one of the greatest centers in NFL history with Jason Kelce, who played at an elite level for 13 seasons. However, he retired after the 2023 season.

Now as a broadcaster with ESPN, Kelce is back in Philadelphia for Monday Night Football. Ahead of the game, he interviewed former teammate quarterback Jalen Hurts one-on-one.

    What was said?

Jason Kelce’s Slip Up in Jalen Hurts Interview

From 2020-23, the first four years of Hurts’ career, Kelce was the Eagles’ starting center and Hurts’ right-hand man through every single start of his career.

In the past, Hurts has actually said the reason he would squat before taking the snap was because of how Kelce would snap it.

Ultimately, though, Kelce decided to hang it up at 36 years old after the 2023 season. Despite still performing as one of the best centers in the NFL, he decided he’d just end it there and enjoy the rest of his life.

Shortly after retiring, he inked a long-term deal with ESPN to make him a pre-game analyst for Monday Night Football.

Ahead of Monday night in Philadelphia, Kelce got to interview his former teammate.

At the end of the interview, Kelce went to wish Hurts well but accidentally showed that he’s still rooting for the Eagles and his former teammates.

“Go dominate,” said Kelce. “I mean, don’t dominate. I’m independent.”

“Yeah, yeah. F that, we know what time it is,” replied Hurts.

Throughout the rest of the interview, though, they talked about playing as teammates and the infamous “Tush Push.”

In talking about the Eagles’ version of the quarterback sneak, they discussed its early-season struggles in 2024 without Kelce and Hurts’ thoughts on the name.

“You don’t miss that play?” Hurts asked when Kelce brought up the play.

“I definitely don’t miss that play,” Kelce responded. “Getting up after being smothered down, you had to help me up half the time because you were the one lying on top of me.”

The two then dove into the play’s success in the first week without Kelce. The play had worked so well in the past, thanks to Kelce’s ability to get low and Hurts’ incredible lower body strength.

“Is it over? Are you just gonna hand it off to Saquon [Barkley] now?” Kelce said.

“I’m cool with whatever works, man. I’ve embraced it, but the one thing I never embraced was the name because that’s not what we call it,” Hurts said. “But [Tush Push] has taken over, and it’s all fun. It’s even funner when you’re doing it right.”

In addition to appearing on the pre-game show, “Monday Night Countdown,” Kelce will also be in the broadcast booth for the third quarter for his Philly reunion.
