Drake Maye is banged up ahead of the New England Patriots’ Week 7 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but just how bad is his injury?
The rookie quarterback surprisingly appeared on New England’s first Week 7 injury report. Maye, who spoke with reporters before Wednesday’s practice, doesn’t seem to be in danger of missing his team’s must-win game against Jacksonville. However, the situation will be worth monitoring in the days ahead.
Let’s go over everything we know.
Drake Maye Pops Up on Patriots Week 7 Injury Report
Maye was listed as a full participant with a knee injury on Wednesday’s injury report.
There weren’t any reports of Maye dealing with an injury after last Sunday’s start against the Houston Texans, so he might’ve hurt his knee during Wednesday’s practice. Ben Volin of The Boston Globe — who has a spotty track record — reported that Maye underwent an MRI after practice.
Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston offered more information on Maye during a late Wednesday TV segment.
“I’ve spoken with multiple people in the organization,” Perry said. ” … What I’ve been told is that they are not concerned about this knee injury to Drake Maye. He was a full participant in practice today. … He is still to be playing this coming weekend in London.”

Fantasy Implications of Maye’s Knee Injury
Again, there currently isn’t any reason to believe Maye is at risk of missing Sunday’s game in London. That could change after Thursday’s practice, but at this point, there’s nothing to worry about.
Maye could be an intriguing streaming option for fantasy football managers looking for a quarterback this weekend. We normally would advise against starting any QB in the Patriots’ offense, but Maye’s dual-threat talents could lead to big numbers against a bad Jaguars defense.
In his first NFL start, Maye completed 20 of 33 passes for 243 yards and three touchdowns to go along with two interceptions, one lost fumble, and four sacks. He also rushed five times for 38 yards.
It was an encouraging debut, albeit one that saw many rough plays from the No. 3 overall pick.

With all that said, Maye’s mobility is a big part of what makes him a viable fantasy QB. If he’s at all limited in Sunday’s game, he might not be able to post enough rushing numbers to offset inevitable sacks.
We’ll learn more about Maye’s status as the week progresses. The Patriots will practice again on Thursday before flying overseas later in the day and practicing in London on Friday.
Sunday’s game at Wembley Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 9:30 a.m. ET.
