Going into Week 5 of the NFL season, it’s the time of year when injuries stack up, requiring fantasy football managers to bolster up their lineup with key waiver wire additions.
With the Green Bay Packers losing Christian Watson with an ankle injury, either Dontayvion Wicks or Romeo Doubs could be a smart addition. But which one?
Should You Add Dontayvion Wicks or Romeo Doubs in Week 5
Once Jordan Love went down in Week 1 with what would be diagnosed as an MCL sprain, the passing game in Green Bay disappeared a bit, and for a good reason.
The Packers traded a 2025 seventh-round pick for Willis just 10 days before Green Bay opened their season in São Paulo, Brazil. Though it’s clear the Packers didn’t want their freshly paid quarterback to go down so late in a game, their move to add Willis was crucial in Green Bay’s back-to-back wins.
However, something that wasn’t as crucial was Green Bay’s ability to pass the ball effectively. Through Weeks 2 and 3, Willis completed 25 of 33 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns. Not that this is a poor stat line at all, but to average only 16.5 pass attempts per game isn’t an enticing offense for a fantasy receiver.
Of those 33 passing attempts, here’s the target share among Wicks and Doubs:
- Wicks: six targets (18%)
- Doubs: five targets (15%)
Neither receiver has a strong head over the other in terms of targets, but which pass catcher has been more productive?
- Doubs: four receptions, 80 yards, zero touchdowns
- Wicks: three receptions, 26 yards, one touchdown
This last week, Love returned to action against the Minnesota Vikings, and it appeared that Wicks gained a competitive edge over Doubs.
Wicks led the Packers with 13 targets on Sunday, hauling in five of them for 78 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

With Love, Doubs also saw an influx in his contribution to the offense, being targeted eight times and bringing in four of said targets. Doubs turned those four receptions into just 39 yards, failing to find the end zone.
Though both could be a strong addition to a receiver-needy fantasy team, Wicks should be the more targeted waiver wire receiver.
