What is the latest injury report for the Week 16 Miami Dolphins vs. New Orleans Saints Monday Night Football matchup?

The Miami Dolphins vs. New Orleans Saints matchup rounds out Week 16 of the 2021 NFL season, but what is the situation with the injury report for both teams? Which key players could they be without, whether due to injury or positive COVID tests?

Dolphins vs. Saints injury report for Monday Night Football

After a couple of weeks that have seen a number of NFL games impacted by injuries and COVID, will we see a similar story on Monday Night Football? With playoffs on the line for both sides, who will each team be without in this pivotal matchup?

New Orleans Saints injury report features Tre’Quan Smith, Terron Armstead, and Marcus Davenport

The Saints’ injury report for Week 16 is not particularly long, but it is potentially impactful. Four names were featured on Friday’s injury report with ailments including knees and shoulders. Of those, just three headed into the weekend listed as questionable.

On the defensive side of the ball, DE Marcus Davenport was listed as questionable with shoulder and knee issues. Davenport has struggled with injuries in his career, missing at least three games every season. Entering Week 16, he has managed to play just eight games for the Saints this year. But even with the questionable tag, Davenport is playing in tonight’s game.

On the offensive side of the ball, both WR Tre’Quan Smith and OT Terron Armstead were listed as questionable. Smith has a shoulder injury and was limited all week in practice. Entering Week 16, he has the fourth-most targets for the Saints and third-most among wide receivers. Smith is active for tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup vs. the Dolphins.

Arguably the more significant loss is that of Armstead, who was listed as inactive prior to kickoff. The Saints offensive lineman has played in just eight games this year. He managed to play in Week 14 but then missed Week 15. He did not participate in practice Thursday or Friday before being upgraded to limited on Saturday.

Taysom Hill, Ryan Ramczyk, Demario Davis, and Malcolm Jenkins highlight names on the COVID list

It has been a tough week for the Saints in terms of players on the reserve/COVID-19 list for Week 16. According to the Saints’ roster, a total of 15 players are currently listed as unavailable. That includes some impactful players on both offense and defense.

First and foremost, QB Tayson Hill will be unavailable for Week 16. Both he and Trevor Siemian are on the reserve/COVID-19 list, meaning that Ian Book will become the fourth QB to start for the Saints this season. New Orleans will also be short two tight ends in Adam Trautman and Juwan Johnson.

The offense is also hampered by OT Ryan Ramczyk being on the list. Ramczyk was not guaranteed to play, given he’s been out since Week 10 with a knee injury. Exacerbating the issue is the loss of Jordan Mills, who is also on the reserve/COVID-19 list in Week 16.

On defense, there are also a handful of names missing. The headline losses are LBs Demario Davis and Kaden Elliss, as well as S Malcolm Jenkins. Carl Granderson is also a loss, especially with Davenport questionable and likely limited at best.

The Miami Dolphins’ injury report provides a clean bill of health

Things have been good for the Dolphins this week in terms of injuries. Seven players were listed on the injury report at one point or another this week, but all of them except for WR Albert Wilson have been fully cleared.

Among those on the injury report were DT Zach Sieler, RB Phillip Lindsay, and OL Jesse Davis. All of them were back as full participants by Friday and carried no designation into Monday.

The Dolphins have Solomon Kindley, Greg Mancz, and Robert Jones on the COVID list

The Dolphins will be breathing a relative sigh of relief over their COVID list entering Monday. They have somehow managed to avoid any major starters being out. They will have depth issues along the offensive line. Solomon Kindley, Greg Mancz, and Robert Jones are all set to miss the game, but none were expected to have starting roles.

Elsewhere on the roster, Wilson was placed on the COVID list. Defensively, both Justin Coleman and Duke Riley are set to miss the game. Coleman did start in Week 15, but prior to that, he had not started a game since Week 6. In the grand scheme of things, the Dolphins have not been overly affected by COVID absences.
