Should I Draft DJ Moore? Fantasy Outlook for the Bears’ WR in 2024

Chicago Bears WR DJ Moore was productive in 2023, but the Bears' offense has completely changed. Find out if you should draft him here.

Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore got a massive extension and has a new sensational rookie quarterback, but it remains to be seen if the other competent weapons help or hinder his fantasy football outlook.

There are several fantasy team name options should you land Moore, like “Moore Than a Feeling,” “Gimme Moore Points,” and more.

With this new-look Bears offense, I’ll examine Moore’s fantasy value and if he’s worth a draft pick in your league.

DJ Moore’s Fantasy Profile for the 2024 NFL Season

Stacking a wide receiver and their quarterback is a notable fantasy football strategy, and I may be able to get on board with a Moore and Caleb Williams stack.

According to TruMedia, Moore had 136 targets, 96 receptions, 1,364 yards, and eight touchdowns in 2023. However, that might as well have been with a totally different team. There were no other notable receiving options besides tight end Cole Kmet.

Not only is Moore still on the team, but the Bears drafted Williams No. 1 overall, traded for Keenan Allen, drafted Rome Odunze No. 9 overall, and signed an excellent pass-catching back in D’Andre Swift.

Moore finished 2023 as the WR8, and he’s going as the WR23 right now in PPR leagues.

And understandably so. There’s a lot of cooks in this kitchen.

As mentioned, the Bears added Allen, who was the WR6 in 2023. He played in just 13 games but had 108 receptions on 150 targets for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns.
He’s had 100 or more targets every year of his career, except 2015 (89), 2016 (played just one game), and 2022 (89; played 10 games).

As for Odunze, he was a top-tier deep threat with Washington in college last season. Of his targets, 35.1% were 20+ yards downfield. He caught 18 of those 40 passes for 599 yards and six touchdowns.

On top of this, Swift caught 39 passes last year, 48 in 2022, and 62 in 2021.

There are a lot of weapons here for Williams, but are there too many cooks in the kitchen for a single player to shine?

Is Moore a Good Fantasy Pick?

I expect Williams to throw plenty as a rookie. There have been 15 rookie quarterbacks to attempt 500 passes or more, and the most recent was Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence in 2021 with 602.

If Williams can hit 500 and complete 60% of his passes, that’ll be 300 completions.

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson was the WR23 last season. He had 95 catches for 1,042 yards and three touchdowns.

While the reception mark could be tough to match, I could see Moore getting similar yardage and more touchdowns.

I’d be OK with drafting Moore, but the chance of him exceeding this ADP by much isn’t the highest with so many other weapons in the fold.

If you’re looking for a back-end WR2, Moore should manage that just fine. He and Allen will be among the team leaders in targets, while Odunze serves as a top deep threat for Williams in both of their rookie seasons. Odunze will get to learn behind two fantastic receivers.
