Colorado coach Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime, has bucked the expected trend and led the Buffaloes to an 8-2 season with a chance to make the Big 12 championship game with two regular season games remaining. First, the Buffs have to contend with an impressive Kansas team in Week 13 of college football action after the Jayhawks defeated the Iowa State Cyclones and the BYU Cougars in consecutive game days.
Cobee Bryant Challenges Coach Prime’s Team
During his weekly news conference, Kansas Jayhawks cornerback Cobee Bryant threw down the challenge to Coach Prime’s team and specifically pinpointed the matchup against Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter as a clash he was looking forward to.
“Yes, I’m not going to lie,” Bryant said. “I’ve been waiting. I already marked this on my notes. I already know this is the game I’ve been wanting all season. Yeah, this is going to be the game.”
Coach Prime’s eldest son, Deion Sanders Jr., did not take any offense to the Jayhawks star’s comments, instead applauding the competitiveness displayed by Bryant with a magnanimous tweet on X.
“These boys ain’t talking sh*t, this how it’s supposed to be,” Sanders Jr. tweeted.

NFL-Bound Travis Hunter Keeps Focus Despite Bryant’s Challenge
This week, ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. projected Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and the two-way star asserted on a call with the media that he would continue to play on both sides of the ball in the NFL.
Hunter is also the favorite for the prestigious Heisman Trophy ahead of Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty and Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward. Hunter’s elevated status in college football ahead of his departure for the NFL via the draft has made him a target for several opponents, as evidenced by Kansas cornerback Bryant’s eagerness to play against him.
During an Instagram livestream, Hunter fired back at Bryant’s energy as he prepared to face off against Coach Prime’s team in Week 13 of college football action.
“We let people talk, bro. Would that make him feel better? It’s going to make him feel better, let that boy talk. They know they are going to have to double team,” Hunter said.
Coach Prime’s team has the opportunity to play for both the Big 12 championship in their inaugural season and a spot in the expanded 12-team college football playoffs, and Hunter will have to keep the focus despite the outside noise if he is to lead his team into the postseason.
