Dallas Goedert is in a tricky scenario to analyze properly for fantasy football.
Goedert resides in a potent offense, which supplies a checkmark next to one of our favorite fantasy football draft strategies. However, he is the fourth (and sometimes fifth) option on any play for the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles have a loaded offense that added Saquon Barkley to the mix. With the Tush Push, A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, and Barkley, we have to question if Goedert’s fantasy outlook can end on a positive note this season.
Dallas Goedert’s Fantasy Profile for the 2024 Season
Goedert finished last year with the 12th-most receptions for tight ends in the NFL, per TruMedia. He produced that in 14 games, which means we could see a boost in numbers if Goedert can stay healthy in 2024.
Regarding rankings within a statistical category, Goedert typically ranks in the middle of the pack. The one top-five stat Goedert dominated was yards after the catch per reception.

This year, Goedert receives a treat with his new offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore. Moore’s scheme involves more motion — something the Eagles lacked in 2023 — and more play-action, which helps the tight end position.
Moore loves to feature a tight end, as we saw in his days as the Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator. Goedert truthers hope the same rings true in 2024.
Is Goedert a Good Fantasy Pick?
Dallas Goedert sits in the tight end dead zone, with his average draft position landing him as the 12th TE drafted (108 overall). You would be sorely mistaken if you expect a top-five season from Goedert.
That makes Goedert a fade for us this season, as we can reach later in our drafts for a tight end who can provide a higher upside with an equal floor to Goedert’s.
Players like T.J. Hockenson, Pat Freiermuth, Luke Musgrave, and Hunter Henry can all be obtained later in your fantasy football drafts. The one good variable within Goedert’s fantasy outlook is that his bye week is in Week 5 this season. You won’t have to worry about losing your tight end in the crucial weeks at the end of the season.
Sadly, you can’t even come up with a great team name, as the best we have generated was “The Goedert, The Bad, and the Ugly.”

A fantasy team name shouldn’t be the deciding factor, but in a game that should be fun for us, we can’t even crack a smile at the minutiae.
We do not play fantasy football to barely make the playoffs or be an average team. As Herm Edwards says, “We play to win the game!”
Goedert allows us to reach our floor, but in the infamous words of Michael Jordan, “The ceiling is the roof.”
It’s time to fade Dallas Goedert for fantasy football and realize he is a positive benefit for drafting Jalen Hurts more than he helps his fantasy outlook in 2024.
