Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott’s Tattoos Are a Tribute to Lost Loved Ones

Dallas Cowboys star Dak Prescott has had quite a journey to becoming the highest-paid QB in the NFL. Here's how his tattoos honor his past.

Dak Prescott has been a lasting presence under center for the Dallas Cowboys since being selected by the team in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Following Tony Romo’s stint with America’s Team, Prescott took over and had immediate success earning 2016 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

While he became the highest-paid NFL player of all time right before the start of the 2024 season, Prescott’s journey to this point has not been an easy one.

As he continues to lead the Cowboys on the field, the Dallas QB has found a way to remember the path he’s taken and the people he’s lost along the way.

Does Dak Prescott Have Any Tattoos?

Yes, he has quite a few, actually, with sleeves on multiple limbs on his body. However, while some people simply have fun with their tattoo decisions, it appears Prescott has a clear vision behind each piece.

Take the recent sleeve done on his plant leg in March 2023. He reached out to tattoo artist Andres Ortega from Onder Ink in Glendale, Arizona, to design and tattoo a massive sleeve on his leg. The tattoo was completed in one 10-to-11-hour session, during which Prescott was reportedly sedated to avoid needing to plan multiple sessions.

There are two major features of Prescott’s leg sleeve.

One is a pegasus, which honors his mother, Peggy, who passed away from colon cancer in 2013. The other, a moose, is a nod to his brother Jace, who took his own life in 2020.

The tattoo also features Looney Tunes character Daffy Duck doing the quarterback’s signature touchdown celebration and a Pine Creek Estates mobile home park sign to represent the neighborhood where Dak grew up.

While the sleeve is massive, it’s not the only piece he has that honors his mother.

In September 2023, Dak and his brother Thaddeus got matching ink on their mother’s birthday at a tattoo shop in Prosper, Texas. The brothers got matching Virgo constellations to represent their mother’s zodiac sign. Dak received his tattoo on his bicep.
