The Dallas Cowboys lost 30-24 to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8. Dallas led by 10-6 at halftime but then gave up 21 unanswered points in the third quarter.
Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb did try to lead a comeback, connecting for two touchdowns in the second half. Prescott had the opportunity to win the game for his team but threw four straight incompletions.
Cowboys fans were quite upset with how their team played coming off a bye and expressed their frustration on social media.
Cowboys Get Criticized by Fans for Embarrassing Loss in Week 8
This was Dallas’ fourth straight loss to the 49ers, and Kyle Shanahan’s team has got their number. Here’s how fans reacted to the Cowboys loss in Week 8:
This is pathetic, McCarthy needed to go after the last playoff game. Shut it down, this is embarrassing.

“I’m usually one that defends Dak a lot, but highest paid player in NFL history to go do that on the last drive. Awesome,” said one fan.
“Paid Dak $240M just to do that s**t on the last drive,” wrote another fan.
Please deliver this message to Jerry:
You suck

“You will not see success until Jerry Jones leaves,” said another fan.
“Don’t let this score fool you. We’re absolute garbage,” complained another Cowboys fan.
So much easier to be a fan of this team when you understand that they’re doomed to fail with how the front office handled this offseason and the last decade honestly https://t.co/X8u2fA7bl7

In the loss to the 49ers, Prescott completed 25/38 of his throws for 243 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. As always, the Cowboys quarterback came up short in crucial spots and padded his numbers when the game was out of the team’s reach.
The Cowboys got the ball with three minutes left in the game and had the opportunity to take the lead. But as mentioned earlier, the $240 million quarterback threw four incompletions, and the 49ers were able to run down the clock.
Prescott has thrown eight interceptions in the last four games against the 49ers, and with the Cowboys in danger of missing the playoffs, he may not have a chance to redeem himself for at least another season.
Things Don’t Get Easier for Cowboys After Loss to 49ers
Jerry Jones failed to address the roster’s issues in the offseason, and this football team is simply not good. With the loss against the 49ers, the Cowboys are now 3-4 on the season. Their next four games are:
- Week 9: at Atlanta Falcons
- Week 10: vs. Philadelphia Eagles
- Week 11: vs. Houston Texans
- Week 12: at Washington Commanders
All four opponents are better than the Cowboys, and based on how Dallas has played this season, they could potentially lose all these games. Apart from the Week 13 game against the New York Giants and the Week 15 game against the Carolina Panthers, the Cowboys do not have any layup games left on their schedule.
All signs point to Mike McCarthy’s final year in Dallas being a disaster. Hopefully, Jones and the other members of the Cowboys front office will make a sound decision when it comes to hiring a new head coach.
Bill Belichick is currently seen as McCarthy’s ideal replacement due to the legendary head coach’s relationship with the Cowboys owner.
Dallas will also have to decide on Micah Parsons’ future, as the star player is eligible for an extension next year. The Cowboys recently paid CeeDee Lamb and Prescott, so there is a slight chance they will entertain trade offers for Parsons, as he can fetch a quality package.
