There may not be many fanbases around the NFL riding higher than the Washington Commanders faithful. A four-win campaign in 2023 led to drafting what might go down as the most remarkable rookie quarterback season in league history — Jayden Daniels. The former Heisman winner immediately elevated Washington to its first playoff win in over a decade and even took them to the NFC Championship Game.
The Commanders have carried that momentum into the offseason. While addressing needs on defense, the front office hasn’t let the offense sit idle, either. They most notably pulled off a blockbuster trade for wide receiver Deebo Samuel. And according to one recent report, they might not be done yet.

Could Washington Commanders Make Blockbuster Trade for Tyreek Hill?
In a recent piece by Bleacher Report, the idea was floated that Washington could swing another bold trade — this time for Dolphins star Tyreek Hill. Hill has recently stirred speculation about his future on social media, and if the Dolphins are ready to explore a move, the Commanders might be the perfect trade partner.
The proposed deal would send Hill and a seventh-round pick to Washington in exchange for second- and sixth-round selections. It’s a steep price, but Washington is one of the few playoff teams with enough cap space — reportedly $26.3 million — to absorb Hill’s contract and still remain aggressive.
The rationale, per Bleacher Report, is simple: “As quarterback Jayden Daniels enters the second year of his rookie deal, the Washington Commanders can load up on his supporting cast.”
The addition of Hill would help offset some uncertainty with Deebo Samuel. While still a dynamic presence, Samuel hasn’t topped 900 receiving yards in a season since his breakout 2021 Pro Bowl campaign. His versatility out of the backfield is valuable, but in San Francisco, he operated more as a complementary piece than a true No. 1.
Even coming off a relative down year in 2024, Hill remains one of the league’s most dangerous weapons. He surpassed 1,700 yards in 2022 and 2023 and brings game-breaking speed that can shift coverage and open the field.
“Though he offers versatility out of the backfield, [Samuel]’s been a No. 2 or 3 option… Terry McLaurin and Hill can be a nightmare tandem for opposing defenders.”
Last season, the Commanders ranked sixth in PFSN’s Offense+ metric, primarily powered by Daniels’ heroics in clutch moments. But relying on a young quarterback to play Superman every week isn’t sustainable.
With Hill in the mix, Washington could flip the script — closing out games early with explosive plays instead of needing Daniels to pull off late-game magic. If this trade becomes a reality, the Commanders could move from rising contender to full-on powerhouse in the NFC.
