Colt McCoy announced his retirement on Aug. 19, 2024, completing a 13-year NFL career as a quarterback with the Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, and New York Giants, among others.
McCoy also had a successful college football career with the Texas Longhorns, starting all four of his collegiate years from 2006 to 2009 while being a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist.
He was the 85th overall pick by the Cleveland Browns during the 2010 NFL Draft, which kicked off his long NFL career.
Let’s look at McCoy’s net worth following various contracts over the years in the NFL.
What Is Colt McCoy’s Net Worth?
McCoy’s net worth is approximately $14 million, an accumulation of his various NFL contracts and investments in businesses like the Dunkin Donuts Austin location.
Despite his stellar collegiate career, McCoy was picked later than expected during the 2010 NFL Draft, but the quarterback was enthusiastic about joining the Browns. On July 23, 2010, McCoy agreed to a four-year, $5 million deal with the Dawg Pound and made his debut against the Steelers in Week 6.
McCoy was later traded to the San Francisco 49ers in 2013 during the last year of his contract. After a brief stint with the 49ers, McCoy joined the Washington franchise in 2014 and stayed there for six years, earning him a total of $17 million by the end of his tenure.
McCoy then made a pit stop with the New York Giants in 2020, signing a deal worth $2.25 million. He eventually signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2021, starting with a $1.2 million deal in his first year and later jumping to a $7.5 million deal during his second year.
McCoy’s Plans After Retirement
The former Browns quarterback opened up about enjoying a role similar to coaching during his final year as a player. His grandfather and dad were coaches, so he will not be “closing the door” on that career path in the future.
The former college football star announced that he will now be joining NBC Sports as an analyst and will make his first appearance during the Colorado vs. Nebraska game on Sept. 8.
McCoy is excited about the new gig and said that college football has always been close to his heart, and he looks forward to the new chapter.
During his collegiate career, McCoy won a slew of awards, including the Maxwell Award, Davey O’Brien Award, and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. He was also a two-time winner of the Walter Camp Award.
