At 1-11 entering Week 14, not much has gone right for the Carolina Panthers this year. However, RB Chuba Hubbard has been a lone bright spot on offense. He left the game against the New Orleans Saints for a short period — what happened to the third-year back?
Chuba Hubbard Injury Update
On a 1st-and-10 early in the second quarter, Hubbard was visibly in pain, grabbing his left leg. He exited the contest and immediately went to the blue medical tent. Yet, he returned on third down to move the chains on a two-yard run.

It appears Hubbard is good to go, but it’s something to monitor as the game continues. He currently has 36 yards on nine carries, proving to be the only effective offensive weapon against the Saints. As has been the case all season, rookie QB Bryce Young is struggling, going 1 of 8 for 18 yards and an interception.

If Hubbard misses any time, Carolina will turn to veteran Miles Sanders in the backfield, who has averaged a paltry 2.7 yards per carry in his last five games.
Fantasy Fallout From Hubbard’s Injury
The Panthers’ running game appeared to be trending in the right direction with Hubbard. The team may need to pivot to other options for the remainder of their game against the Saints. Prior to his injury, Hubbard totaled 32 yards on seven carries against a formidable Saints defense.
If Hubbard misses any time in the coming weeks, Sanders would be first in line to lead this Panthers backfield. Raheem Blackshear would also potentially see an expanded role while Hubbard is out of the lineup.
