Is Chuba Hubbard Playing in Week 17?

As has been the case for several weeks now, Hubbard got the first day of practice off. The Panthers held a walkthrough on Tuesday to give the players Christmas off but released the estimated report on Wednesday.

Hubbard returned to practice on Thursday but was listed as limited with a knee injury. I had some concerns about this injury happening at practice. Hubbard’s limited session on Friday suggests that his injury did, indeed, happen on Thursday’s practice. However, the fact that he was able to practice on Friday suggested he would be able to play.

Head coach Dave Canales was candid about all the questionable designations and noted that almost everyone was expected to play.

However, on Saturday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Hubbard was being placed on injured reserve due to that injury. In fact, Schefter said that a Friday night MRI revealed a Grade 2 calf strain.

This now ends his season after rushing for 1,195 yards.
