Travis Kelce Gets Real on NFL Future Following Super Bowl LIX Loss

On Wednesday’s episode of the ‘New Heights Show’ with his brother Jason, Travis Kelce had a hard time talking about their disappointing loss to the Eagles. The TE then went on to talk about how fans would want to know about his decision regarding his career.

Kelce said that he is currently taking some time to decide on his future. He also expressed his grief about the Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss, holding back his tears and reflecting on his journey in the NFL.

“I know everybody wants to know whether or not I’m playing next year,” Kelce said. “Right now, I’m just kicking everything down the road…I’m not making any crazy decisions. But right now, the biggest thing is just being there for my teammates and being there for my coaches, understanding that there’s a lot that goes into this thing.”

“It’s a tough reality, man,” Kelce continued. “I think I’m going to take some time to figure it out. And I think I owe it to my teammates that If I do come back, that it’s a wholehearted decision.”

Travis Kelce played his 12th campaign with the Chiefs during the 2024 season. He has already left a successful legacy in the franchise, winning three Super Bowls and being a powerhouse on offense. However, after his disastrous performance at Caesars Dome, Kelce is trying to figure out whether he can have an impactful contribution to the team anymore.

Travis Kelce Highlights What Went Wrong During Their 40–22 Loss to the Eagles

During the conversation with his brother, the Chiefs TE discussed what went wrong for his team during their Super Bowl LIX showdown. Kelce stated that they struggled to find momentum on the field.

He also took responsibility for not being a good leader on the field. Kelce said that he failed to maintain his team’s composure, ultimately resulting in the disappointing loss.

“It just wasn’t our day. Couldn’t find a lick of momentum. I’m kicking myself for some of the tiny, tiny decisions I made on the field, trying to do something more than what I asked to do during plays,” Kelce said. “I wasn’t the best leader that I could be motivating my guys and keeping my guys calm, cool, and collected.

Kelce now has to make a choice. It will be interesting to see whether he hangs up his cleats or returns for one last hurrah with the Chiefs this upcoming season.
