Kansas City Chiefs News, March 30: Potential Stadium Relocation, Mock Draft, and More

Here's the latest news involving the Kansas City Chiefs, including the most recent information regarding a potential relocation and draft pick options.

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ future is in the hands of voters, as Jackson County residents will vote on a sales tax question that has implications for Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs released a statement encouraging voters to ensure the team remains at Arrowhead.

While the Chiefs are still enjoying their rewards for winning Super Bowl 58, the front office has likely shifted its attention to the 2024 NFL Draft. The team is also optimistic about returning free-agent defensive end Mike Danna.

Will the Chiefs Remain at Arrowhead Stadium?

Rumors have been swirling that the Chiefs could have a new home soon.

Voters in Jackson County will help shape the future of the Chiefs and the MLB’s Kansas City Royals when deciding Question 1 on April 2’s ballot.

The sales tax question would help the Royals relocate their stadium to downtown Kansas City and help the Chiefs pay for renovations at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Many believe the team will consider uprooting Arrowhead if the vote doesn’t pass.

The Chiefs’ organization released a statement yesterday regarding the ballot question and the longstanding partnership with Jackson County.

“On April 2, a YES vote on Question 1 ensures that Chiefs football will remain at Arrowhead Stadium and that Arrowhead will remain one of the most iconic stadiums in all of sports,” the statement reads.

The organization went on to explain that this is not a new tax or tax increase but an extended agreement to have the same sales tax.

Chiefs ‘Optimistic’ They Can Re-Sign Mike Danna

The Chiefs have been busy this offseason but still have plenty of cap space following the L’Jarius Sneed trade.

Kansas City reportedly hopes to use some of that cap space to re-sign defensive end Mike Danna, who was tremendous this season as a rotational defensive lineman.

Danna served as a starter while Charles Omenihu was suspended for the first six games of the season. He put up a career-high 6.5 sacks with 50 tackles before falling into a reserve role after Omenihu returned.

A former fifth-round pick, Danna has spent his entire career with Kansas City.

Kansas City Selects Byron Murphy II in Mock Draft

In the latest Kansas City mock draft from Pro Football Network’s James Fragoza, the Chiefs picked up several solid additions.

Fragoza first moved out of the first round (down two slots) after a trade with PFN NFL Analyst Dakota Randall, who was managing the New England Patriots.

At pick No. 34, he selected defensive tackle Byron Murphy II out of Texas.

“The Chiefs re-signed Chris Jones to a massive contract, and it’s time to reward him with the running mate he’s longed for,” Fragoza wrote. “Murphy can wreak game plans by generating pressure up the middle, and with Jones next to him, guards and centers will be waving the white flag.”

Additionally, the team picked up wide receiver Ladd McConkey in Round 2 and cornerback Khyree Jackson in Round 3. Fragoza noted that the team needs a third receiver who can create separation in man coverage and that Jackson can shut down an entire side of the field with refinement.

Travis Kelce Jams Out to Taylor Swift on the Golf Course in Viral Clip

Travis Kelce has caught the attention of plenty around the world as his relationship with star musician Taylor Swift is still going strong.

The latest viral video to hit the internet shows Kelce on the golf course, playing a round of golf with Taylor Swift’s music playing in the background.

After hitting an iron shot from the middle of the fairway, Kelce is seen analyzing the shot before realizing he likes it and celebrates with a body bump, a dance move, and — probably more importantly — lip-syncing to the music being played in the background that just happened to be “Bad Blood” by Taylor Swift.
