Taylor Swift’s entry into the football world was quick. The pop icon wasted no time and brought several new fans into the sport. However, she has also been making new fans within the football community. The Kansas City Chiefs defensive backs coach Dave Merritt recently revealed a gesture from Swift that won his heart.
Taylor Swift Bakes Her Way Into the Chiefs’ World
Since last season, the talk around the world has been regarding Travis Kelce and his new beau Swift. While the 14-time Grammy winner has become a mainstay at Arrowhead Stadium for Chiefs games, she has a special way to celebrate victories.
Chiefs DB coach Merritt took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal this side of Swift to the world. “Taylor Swift baked homemade victory Pop Tarts me! Yolonda Merritt said, “She’s done it all season for different people Dave.” I thought I was SPECIAL. Sweet young woman regardless!” he tweeted.

In his tweet, the 53-year-old coach had also attached a picture of Swift’s homemade pop tarts. “Victory pop tarts. Congratulations. Love Tay,” Swift had written over the box.
This is not the first time Swift has been in the news thanks to her backing. In December 2023, former NFL player Bernie Kosar revealed that Swift treated boyfriend Kelce, 35, to her homemade cinnamon rolls.
“We’re having a pregame meal and Taylor is so nice she comes in by herself and she’s so cool, she brings, she made her homemade cinnamon rolls for Travis for a pregame meal,” he said on Audacy’s AM 560 Sports WQAM.
Later on in February, Andy Reid said during an interview on Pro Football Talk Live the pop star baked the team some pastries. “Behind the scenes, she, to fit in — she didn’t even know she was doing this, I don’t think — she likes to cook, so she made the offensive linemen these homemade Pop-Tarts,” said Reid.
Swift and Kelce’s Super Bowl Moment Gets Recognized by Time Magazine
Earlier this year, the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime to claim the Lombardi Trophy. One photograph from the celebratory scenes at the Allegiant Stadium has made it into Time magazine’s ‘Top 100 Photos of 2024’.
The moment as Kelce and Swift embrace each other while the media surrounds them has now been immortalized in history. The picture clicked by Charles Baus in Las Vegas on February 11 will forever remind the fans of the special season of the Chiefs when Swift made her entry into the NFL world.
Kelce will be next seen by the fans as the Chiefs take on their divisional foes the Las Vegas Raiders this Friday. While Swift will be performing the last three shows of her ‘Eras Tour’ in Canada next weekend.
