We are now entering the fifth week of the 2022 NFL season, and daily practice reports are becoming longer and longer as injury updates pour in. Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb popped up on Thursday’s practice report with a groin injury. Should fantasy football managers be concerned about Lamb’s status for Sunday’s game against the Rams?
CeeDee Lamb Injury Update
Lamb has been at the pinnacle of health to start his career. He’s currently in his third season and has missed just one game. Heading into Week 5, fantasy managers apparently cannot take Lamb’s health for granted.
Lamb wasn’t on the injury report at all Wednesday but missed Thursday’s practice entirely. Mid-week downgrades are bad enough, but to go from full practice to no practice is quite concerning.
According to Dallas News’ Calvin Watkins, Lamb missed practice due to a groin injury. The good news is it does not sound like anything to be worried about.
Lamb said he was fine and that he didn’t participate because his GPS numbers were too high from the previous day.
Will Ceedee Lamb Play in Week 5 vs. the Rams?
Obviously, there’s never a good time for a player to be hurt, but it would be particularly unfortunate with Lamb playing so well recently.
Ironically, Lamb started producing at a much higher level after Cooper Rush took over at the quarterback position for Dak Prescott. In his last three games, Lamb has caught at least six passes and totaled at least 75 receiving yards. He’s also found the end zone in each of his past two games. The Cowboys and fantasy managers alike need their WR1 this Sunday.

Lamb going from a full practice to a DNP cannot be spun as anything other than a negative, With that said, all reports indicate Lamb should be fine. He seems pretty adamant about it, too, telling Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein, “I’m fine. I’m good. I don’t want to scare nobody.”
All we can do at this point is make our best guess based on the information we have. My guess is Lamb returns to at least a limited practice on Friday before ultimately suiting up against the Rams on Sunday.
If Lamb is once again absent from practice entirely, then we should seriously question whether he will play this week. But I don’t think that will be the case.
If Lamb were to miss time, Michael Gallup would be thrust into the WR1 role with Noah Brown as the WR2 — the role he’s been playing while Gallup recovered from his ACL tear.
Both would be on the fantasy radar. However, that is a bridge we can cross if Lamb is surprisingly absent from Friday’s practice. For now, fantasy managers should plan to have their WR1 on Sunday
