Brock Purdy’s House: 49ers QB Breaks Down Living Situation Making $870,000 Per Year

Brock Purdy has become one of the great stories in the NFL. From Mr. Irrelevant in the 2022 NFL Draft to starting QB for the San Francisco 49ers, it is one of the most feel-good developments in the NFL over recent seasons.

After playing college football at Iowa State, Purdy became a sensation in the league due to his poised play and game-changing performances. As a late-round draft pick, Purdy is on a small contract. He doesn’t have a flashy car or house, and Purdy saves money where he can. So, let’s dive into the details of his living situation.

Does Brock Purdy Have a Roommate as a Married Man?

As one the best QBs in the NFL, you would expect Purdy to have an expensive house. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Purdy shares his home with a roommate to save money.

That roommate is also his teammate and offensive lineman, Nick Zakelj. Zakelj was also drafted on Day 3 of the 2022 NFL Draft, and to make their money go further, they shared a house. Purdy has openly spoken about the arrangement, explaining how he and Zakelj split the space, which includes just the essentials: a bedroom, bathroom, and shared living area.

When speaking on the TODAY Show, Purdy gave a peek behind the curtain on his living situation. “So, I still have a roommate, one of the offensive linemen here,” Purdy said. “So he and I are still splitting the rent.” With small salaries and living in the third-most expensive city in the country, Purdy has had to find a way to make his money go further.

Purdy and Zakelj know each other through Mike Rose, who was Purdy’s roommate at Iowa State. Speaking to NBC Sports Bay Area, Zakelj said, “There’s a small-world aspect of it all — that’s how we got that connection, and the friendship took off from there.”

In 2022, Purdy shared his home with another teammate, Alfredo Gutierrez, who also lived alongside the two current 49ers.

The former Iowa State QB also got engaged in the 2023 offseason to Jenna Brandt, and the two wed in March 2024. She has been one of Purdy’s biggest supporters, but we don’t know how she feels about Purdy’s roommate situation!

Entering the league in 2022, Purdy was behind Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance on the depth chart, and the path to success looked immediately slim for Purdy. But he has been able to take his chances and has led the 49ers to back-to-back playoff appearances while outplaying his draft position considerably.

Despite being one of the top QBs in the NFL over his first two seasons, Purdy has remained grounded. He still drives a Toyota Sequoia and keeps his life “simple.” The 49ers will eventually have to pay Purdy a much bigger contract. Maybe he can have his own place then.
