Breece Hall Fantasy Value: Analyzing the Jets’ RB After Week 4

After New York Jets RB Breece Hall stunned in Week 4 with a dud performance against the Broncos, how should fantasy managers react?

    Published on

Through the first four weeks of the 2024 NFL season, New York Jets running back Breece Hall hasn’t been the top performer that many thought he’d be heading into this year.

However, what does the rest of this season look like for the second-year running back out of Iowa State, and what should fantasy football managers do moving forward?

Should Fantasy Football Managers Trade Breece Hall?

After a true dud of a performance in Week 4, it’s understandable for fantasy managers with Hall on their team to be in panic mode. However, after just four yards against the Denver Broncos, now wouldn’t be the best time to trade Hall — if trading him is what they want to do.

Trade value can vary depending on week-to-week performances, and that’s especially true following a four-yard game.

Through Weeks 1-3, Hall rushed for over 50 yards in each game, scoring a touchdown in all three matchups. The limited ceiling will likely be the biggest concern for Hall’s fantasy managers right now. The stud RB has not topped 62 rushing yards in a single game this season and has only topped 100 total yards once.

Hall addressed this when he spoke to the media Sunday.

“Unfortunately for me, I haven’t been having the big rushing games… but I’m trying to do my part,” Hall said. “I wish I could run for 100, 200 yards every game, but realistically, right now, I’m the focal point of most defenses. It’s just really not happening.”

Adding to the concern is the emergence of rookie running back Braelon Allen. The opportunities in the running game have been evening out a little more each week of the season.

    Week 1
    Hall: 16 rushes
    Allen: 1 rush

    Week 2
    Hall: 14 rushes
    Allen: 7 rushes

    Week 3
    Hall: 16 rushes
    Allen: 11 rushes

    Week 4
    Hall: 10 rushes
    Allen: 8 rushes

The noticeable trend is Allen seeing an increased role relative to Hall in every week. If that trend continues, considering Allen’s production when given the ball, Hall could further lose out on crucial snaps and fantasy points.

And if that’s the case, Hall’s trade window isn’t at its peak.

While Hall is seen as an RB1 in fantasy this season, Allen has also shown the ability to be a productive back. New York is likely trying to find a way to utilize both Allen and Hall in a two-headed monster. Until that happens, Hall managers will be keeping a close eye on their splits moving forward.

If Hall managers want to trade him, however, they should wait for his value to rise. Hall’s current value isn’t very strong, especially after his performance against Denver.

But, with all of these things in mind, what could a fantasy manager get for Hall?

What Should Fantasy Managers Look To Acquire When Trading Hall?

Though it might not be the best idea at this very moment, the PFN Trade Analyzer has a few options for Hall managers who want to make a move following his Week 4 bust.

The Trade Analyzer values Hall at 94.9 points, placing him as the most valuable running back in redraft leagues. This makes a trade for him to get a running back in return unlikely unless paired with another player.

However, when it comes to receivers, Hall stacks up well in terms of valuation on the Trade Analyzer.

When looking solely at the valuations on the PFN Trade Value Charts, these receivers rank closely to Hall’s current valuation:

Considering how valuable a top running back is in redraft leagues, Hall would bring in a great return. However, managers with recency bias might have a more difficult time sending Lamb, Jefferson, or Chase in return for Hall.
