After a rough couple of weeks to start his NFL rookie campaign, QB Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos finally put the pieces together as the team cruised to a 26-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After the rookie’s first win, his wife, Izzy Smoke, celebrated her husband with a social media post. Let’s look at the couple’s sweet moment following Nix’s big day.
Bo Nix’s Wife Celebrates Her Husband After Big Win on Instagram
After the first two weeks of the season, it was clear Nix would need time to settle into the pace of NFL play after throwing four interceptions and no touchdowns. However, his ability to rush the football has saved the beginning of his rookie campaign from being a total disaster.
In Week 1, Nix ran the ball five times for 35 yards and a touchdown. Then, in Week 2, he had an additional 25 yards on four carries. While his contributions on the ground are solid, Nix’s passing game improves each week, with his game against the Buccaneers being the best.
He posted his highest completion percentage of the season (69.4%) while throwing for 216 yards and, most importantly, no interceptions. Nix also added 47 yards and a touchdown on the ground, which helped propel Denver to a 26-7 win.
Following the game, Nix swapped jerseys with former Oregon teammate RB Bucky Irving. Izzy, in the stands waiting to see her husband after the game, posted a video on her Instagram story.
After the media availability sessions and freshening up after the game, Bo and Izzy snapped a picture outside Raymond James Stadium as the rookie quarterback returned to the buses.
Izzy posted the photo of her story and captioned it, “A BRONCOS WIN. Thank you, Lord!!!”
You can tell how much this win means to her, Nix, and the Denver team.
While celebration is in order for Nix after notching his first NFL career win and playing a clean game, the Broncos stay on the East Coast with a matchup against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
The Jets are 2-1 and have not made opposing quarterbacks lives easy. Will Nix keep the ball out of harm’s way two weeks in a row, or will the turnover bug reappear? Whatever the case, you can see he has a solid support system, with Izzy cheering him on.
