Bengals TE Mike Gesicki Has Hilarious Reaction To Having the Same Vertical Leap as NBA Superstar Anthony Edwards

Mike Gesicki is one of the established tight ends in the NFL. Standing at 6’6″, he has proved to be a reliable presence all over the field, including as a red-zone threat, due to his size.

Interestingly, the Cincinnati Bengals TE has the same vertical leap as three-time NBA All-Star Anthony Edwards. Gesicki had a hilarious reaction to the comparison but was in awe of Edward’s athleticism.

Mike Gesicki Reacts To Having the Same Vertical Leap as Anthony Edwards

Edwards is one of the best young shooting guards in the NBA and was the No. 1 overall pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2020 Draft. He is averaging the fourth-highest points per game, 27.5, in the NBA this season.

While Edwards stands at 6’4″, he has the same vertical leap as Gesicki, 41.5″. The Bengals’ tight end was surprised to find the similarity and claimed Edwards looked more athletic than him.

“Somehow he looks so much cooler and way more athletic than me lol but i’ll take that comparison for sure,” he posted on X.

Gesicki was picked No. 42 overall pick by the Miami Dolphins in the 2018 NFL Draft, and barring his rookie season, he posted 50 or more catches for three consecutive seasons from 2019 to 2021 in Miami. He then spent two seasons with the New England Patriots before arriving in Cincinnati last year.

Gesicki was offered a one-year deal worth $2.5 million, which comes off as a “prove it” deal as the tight end is set to be a free agent again. He posted 65 receptions for 665 yards and two touchdowns and is ranked 81st in PFSN’s Top 100 Free Agent Rankings. Here’s what Ben Rolfe writes about him:

“A tight end in name only, Mike Gesicki enjoyed a bounceback season in 2024 with the Bengals. Gesicki’s 65 receptions for 665 yards exceeded his totals from the prior two seasons combined with the Dolphins and Patriots (61 receptions, 606 yards).

“Gesicki saw an elevated role in part due to Tee Higgins’ persistent injury woes. In five games Higgins missed, Gesicki averaged 62.4 receiving yards per game and a 27.5% target rate. But in 12 games where Higgins played, Gesicki only averaged 29.4 receiving yards per game on a 16.4% target rate.

“Given that Cincinnati is likely to lose Higgins, it’s possible they seek to retain Gesicki and replicate his larger role (particularly with Jermaine Burton flaming out as a rookie). Regardless of where he lands, Gesicki continues to fill his oversized slot receiver role at a fairly high level.”
