Analyst Questions Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Readiness Over 3 Key Concerns

Colorado Buffaloes QB Shedeur Sanders is headed to the 2025 NFL Draft. He is viewed by most draft experts as one of the two best QB prospects in the draft alongside Miami’s Cam Ward.

Despite still being projected as a top-five pick, there are many who have their doubts about him. This is viewed as a weak QB class, and as a result, no QB is immune from criticism, including Sanders.

NFL Analyst Questions Whether Shedeur Sanders Is Ready for the NFL

On Tuesday, an episode of ‘Fearless with Jason Whitlock’ was released. In the episode, one of the topics was Sanders’ falling draft stock. Analyst Steve Kim spoke about his concerns with Sanders, giving three reasons why he might not be ready for the NFL level.

“This whole notion of Sanders falling, his stock dropping, has it gone wrong? No, I think it’s more realistic given when you watch the tape, Jason we noticed some of the things that Shedeur needs to work on. Number one, he holds the ball too long. Number two, he drifts in the pocket. I would say at least half of the sacks that he took were not on the offensive line. Shedeur’s good at the quick game, but I worry about the intermediate throws and some of the stuff outside the hash marks like the deep out. I think he struggles with that.

“And I never got the sense that either Cam Ward or Shedeur, because I know opinion is split. There are years that you know there’s a John Elway, you know it’s an Andrew Luck. You just know certain quarterbacks like, ‘that’s a top three pick.’ When you watch these guys and especially Shedeur, you wonder how much this is about the system and how much you have an advantage in every single game in that conference you play and can he make all the throws at the next level? I do have my doubts.”

Kim is not the first person to express his doubts about Sanders. It has been a common trend in recent months. There are many who believe that in a stronger QB class, he would not be viewed as anywhere close to a first-round pick, let alone a contender to go first overall.

If his draft stock is dropping, it will be interesting to see if any team at the top of the draft takes a risk on a different QB, or if this draft just has very few QBs taken early.
