Detroit Lions wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown was banged up after taking a hard hit near the end of the third quarter on Sunday. What happened to St. Brown in the Lions’ NFL Week 2 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
What Happened to Amon-Ra St. Brown?
St. Brown went down after taking a hit from Bucs defender Christian Izien with roughly four minutes remaining in the third quarter of Sunday’s game.
The Lions’ WR hauled in a 17-yard catch from Jared Goff that took the team to their one-yard line. Unfortunately, St. Brown was then slow to get up. He was limping when he stood up and immediately went back to the ground.

ARSB eventually got up and sprinted to the Lions’ sideline. The club’s medical staff didn’t give him any attention. Detroit running back David Montgomery scored a one-yard rushing touchdown on the ensuing play, so St. Brown had time to rest on the sideline.
He returned to the field for the Lions’ next offensive drive and appeared to remain healthy until the end of the fourth quarter. He began limping again as Detroit tried to mount a late-game comeback. He hobbled off the field and eventually took himself out of the game.
St. Brown was subsequently spotted working with a trainer. He wasn’t on the field for the Lions’ final — and unsuccessful — offensive plays.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported early Monday morning that St. Brown escaped serious injury and was diagnosed with a contusion and cramping.
Despite being hobbled during Sunday’s game, Lions WR Amon-Ra initially was determined to have only a contusion and cramping, per source.

This was in line with what head coach Dan Campbell said during the team’s post-game press conference. “He’s alright,” Campbell said. “I don’t think it is anything long-term, so that’s good news.”
That is good news for Lions fans who now need to find a way back into the win column after their disappointing loss to Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers.
Fantasy Impact of Amon-Ra St. Brown’s Injury
Jameson Williams’ breakout season could hit a hitch should the bonafide star receiver miss time if the injury were to flare up during the week.
While he and St. Brown do different things, the attention that the slot ace demands in the short passing game helps create mismatches for the speed demon.
St. Brown, of course, has earned our trust and will be labeled as a must-start option as long as he is active.
