Aaron Jones Injury Update: Here’s What We Know About the Vikings RB

Lead Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones appeared to suffer an injury Sunday against the 49ers. What's the latest update?

    Published on

Following Justin Jefferson’s injury late in the second half in a potential upset over the 49ers, running back Aaron Jones joins the list of players banged up for the Minnesota Minnesota Vikings.

    What Happened to Aaron Jones?

After a big hit to the lead running back, Jones was seen on the sidelines, appearing to be in pain. Though it didn’t appear to be too serious, it forced Jones to seek medical attention. Ty Chandler’s impressive day looks to continue, as Jones’ remaining reps in this matchup appear to be questionable.

At the time of his injury, Jones accumulated just 28 yards through eight rushes, as Chandler has been the lead back this afternoon against San Francisco.

Though he missed a few plays due to an apparent injury, Jones returned to play just a handful of plays after. However, his impact was limited. He finished the day with 32 yards rushing on five carries and added 36 receiving yards on 5 receptions.

There were no immediate updates regarding his injury after the game when head coach Kevin O’Connell spoke to the media. We’ll continue to monitor this and will have updates throughout the week here at Pro Football Network.

    Fantasy Impact of Jones’ Injury

From PFN Fantasy Analyst Derek Tate: The Vikings’ offense has caught a nasty case of the injury bug, with players like T.J. Hockenson, J.J. McCarthy, and Jordan Addison all missing action through the first two weeks of the 2024 NFL season.

Unfortunately, Aaron Jones could be the next Viking to miss time on the field after picking up an injury late in the second half of their contest against the San Francisco 49ers.

Jones had a great debut in Minnesota with 18.9 fantasy points against the New York Giants in Week 1 by producing 109 total yards and a score on 16 touches.

If Jones were to miss any time in the coming weeks, Ty Chandler would become the biggest fantasy benefactor with an expanded role in this offense.

Chandler averaged a healthy 7.8 yards per carry over his first nine touches against the 49ers in Week 2.
