Golden State Valkyries guard Bree Hall celebrated her 22nd birthday on Saturday, June 28. Interestingly, her partner in crime was her close friend from a rival WNBA team, Indiana Fever’s Aliyah Boston.
Hall and Boston were teammates during college, playing under coach Dawn Staley for the South Carolina Gamecocks. The duo won the NCAA Division I women’s basketball championship in 2022. Boston won the Most Outstanding Player award.

With Hall turning 22, Boston celebrated by sharing a video of the duo dancing on her Instagram story. Wearing casual clothes, Hall and Boston danced to the popular song “Fairy” by the American rapper Amaiya Spain, professionally known as Myaap.
“Happy birthday babesss love you so much enjoy your day,” Boston captioned the Instagram story.

Incidentally, Hall was selected by the Fever with the 20th pick of the second round in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Unfortunately, the team waived her on May 5, only giving her a brief time to be teammates with Boston, who is their star guard and won the WNBA Rookie of the Year award in 2023.
She also earned All-Star selections in her first two seasons in the WNBA.
Fortunately, the Valkyries signed her a month later, and she debuted for them last Sunday, June 22. Hall was a substitute player during her freshman and sophomore seasons with the Gamecocks before becoming a starter in her junior and senior years.
She performed best in her junior year, winning her second NCAA Division I championship.
When Hall became a starter, Boston had already joined the WNBA, impressing in her debut season with the Fever. Fortunately, Hall had Boston to rely on during her transition from substitute to starter.
During the SEC Media Day before her junior season, Hall revealed that she talked to Boston almost daily. “Having her just always in my corner and having that person to always rely on when I need to ask a question, when I don’t know something, or just simple leadership questions. I mean, I always go to her,” Hall said.
Moreover, Hall spoke highly of her bond with Boston shortly during a media day interview before the Fever waived her. “She’s been very, very helpful. She’s been in my ear this entire time,” Hall said.
On the other hand, Boston became emotional when she realized they would be teammates with the Fever. “BIG BREEZY REUNION 🥹🥹 I’m literally crying rn,” Hall posted on X. Boston was also quick to defend Hall when the rookie faced online criticism after the Fever waived her.
As of now, Hall has become a sole substitute appearance for the Valkyries. Playing two minutes against the Connecticut Sun, she scored a three-pointer. The Valkyries eventually won the game 87-63.
Boston has already become a force to be reckoned with. The same cannot be said of Hall, though. However, her collegiate career has shown that she could elevate her game with experience. Whether she could do that in the WNBA remains to be seen.
