Broncos Predicted to Trade For $24,500,000 Star Reuniting Sean Payton With Familiar Offensive Weapon

With their need for a Joker fulfilled, one analyst wants the Denver Broncos to overload that archetype by reuniting Sean Payton with former star.

The Denver Broncos are walking into next season with extremely high expectations. After a stellar rookie season from Bo Nix that resulted in the franchise’s first playoff appearance in a decade, they have been hard at work to improve every aspect of the roster around him, in hopes of a deep playoff run in 2025.

With additions on the ground game, pass catchers for Nix, and an already stellar defense, the Broncos look poised for a breakout year. However, for one analyst, there is one final move Denver could make to take themselves over the hump, and it is a name head coach Sean Payton is already familiar with.

Could the Denver Broncos Find Their “Joker” in a Familiar Face?

Ever since their loss to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card Round, Payton has spoken about their game plan coming into 2025. One of the major talking points of the entire summer was the addition of a “joker” to the roster, who could have an impact through the air and on the ground as well.

In the offseason, Denver did its best to find that guy. Evan Engram is a versatile tight end that they added in free agency, before back-to-back selections of RJ Harvey and Pat Bryant in the 2025 NFL Draft, also served the same purpose.

However, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports, in his list of blockbuster trades to bolster both sides, linked the Broncos to Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints. A five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro selection, Kamara is still one of the best RBs in the game today.

Benjamin explained his Denver choice, “The Broncos, meanwhile, could still use additional big-play weapons for Bo Nix. And their coach, Sean Payton, was responsible for drafting and unleashing Kamara during his time with the Saints.”

Even with the J.K. Dobbins and Harvey additions, the analyst believes Kamara could add to their depth and become a reliable piece for Payton once again, all these years later. Despite being a New Orleans mainstay, his injury history and the direction of the Saints might put his time with the franchise in jeopardy.

However, Benjamin also wasn’t ignoring the signs from Kamara and the Saints’ camp about their future together. He acknowledged head coach Kellen Moore’s insistence on running the offense through his running back.

Additionally, despite multiple contract disputes, the man with the NFL record for most rushing touchdowns in a game had signed a new extension with the organization, earning $18.5 million in 2026. Considering those circumstances, there is a chance Kamara wants to remain in Louisiana for the foreseeable future.
