A potential trade that had been discussed for a long time was finally made official in the early hours of Thursday. The Buffalo Sabres traded pending restricted free agent forward JJ Peterka to the Utah Mammoth, the expansion team that played its first season in 2024-25. After the news broke, the Mammoth revealed that they had handed Peterka a five-year contract with an annual average value of $7.7 million.
In return, Utah sent defenseman Michael Kesselring and forward Josh Doan to Buffalo. The trade finally brings an end to weeks of speculation as to where Peterka would ultimately end up after not signing an extension with Buffalo. And while the jury is out on how both Kesselring and Doan will perform with the Sabres, Buffalo fans are once again giving embattled GM Kevyn Adams a piece of their mind on social media.
Buffalo Sabres Fans Unleash Their Fury and Target GM Kevyn Adams
Once the trade news broke, Sabres fans began expressing their thoughts about the deal, with many wondering why Adams is still employed by the organisation that has missed the postseason for 14 consecutive seasons.
One NHL fan sarcastically asked, “Since you’re letting your good players have better opportunities, can you let Tuch go sooner rather than later?”

Another hockey fan kept his response to the trade short and sweet, saying, “Buffalo self-destructing.”
One fan wanted Adams to lose his job and commented, “Fire Adams!!! Someone needs to sit Terry down!! He must have dementia.”

A third fan echoed this thought and commented, “Please fire Kevyn Adams. Getting rid of our star players for nothing.”
One Sabres fan said, “Fire Kevyn Adams into the sun, then explode the sun.”
A Buffalo fan promised to cancel his season ticket and said, “You guys aren’t getting another season ticket payment from me. All KBC numbers that call me when the payment declines on the 18th will be blocked.”

Kevyn Adams Says One of the Priorities Was To Make the Buffalo Sabres ‘Tougher To Play Against’
In a statement released immediately after the trade was made official, Adams said he thinks the additions of Kesselring and Doan will make the team more difficult to play against.
“One of our priorities as we work through this offseason is making our team more competitive and tougher to play against,” Adams said. “The additions of Michael and Josh will help us tremendously in both of those categories, and I am excited to see them in a Sabres uniform soon.”
Kesselring and Doan join a Sabres team that is continuing its search for a clear direction and identity. The team currently has the NHL’s longest playoff drought, having last played beyond the final game of the regular season in the spring of 2011.
