Emma Raducanu faced a distressing situation earlier this year at the Dubai Duty Free Championships, reportedly due to a man who had been stalking her. The WTA subsequently imposed a ban preventing him from attending any future events.
In a recent positive development, he has also been barred from purchasing tickets for the upcoming Wimbledon Championships. In the aftermath, Raducanu praised the tournament for taking the necessary action and made a few additional revelations, including one involving the police.
Emma Raducanu Reveals Recent Interaction With Police After Wimbledon Bans Stalker
The 2021 US Open champion had experienced a huge panic attack during her second-round match against Karolina Muchova in Dubai earlier in February. Reportedly, the stalker had followed her to several tournaments earlier in the season, including the Qatar Open, Abu Dhabi Open, and Singapore Open.
Following the incident in Dubai, the man was given a restraining order by the Police.
Now, Wimbledon’s security system blocked the aforementioned individual from buying tickets for the All England Club, rejecting his application. Speaking to the BBC recently, Raducanu praised the Wimbledon officials, disclosing that the police contacted her and assured her everything was alright.
“Wimbledon did and everyone did an amazing job and I got a notification. The police contacted me and told me and and assured me everything was good, everything was OK. And I know that I’m not the first athlete to go through this and I probably won’t be the last. Not just athlete, female in general,” she said.
“I feel comfortable. I feel safe.”

Although the Brit acknowledged it as a challenge every player faces, she expressed her satisfaction with the level of security and protections provided by tournaments, which make her feel safe.
“So it’s just something that we all kind of maybe have to deal with at some point. And I, I feel OK. I feel comfortable, I feel safe. I’ve had great kind of protection whenever I’ve been at these events recently. And yeah, I feel, I feel OK,” she added.
Nonetheless, Raducanu now needs to fully shift her focus to the WTA 250 event in Eastbourne as she looks to build momentum ahead of the Wimbledon Championships.
Emma Raducanu Will Face Ann Li in the Eastbourne Open 1R
Raducanu had a promising start to the grass-court swing with a quarterfinal finish at the Queen’s Club Championships. The 22-year-old convincingly defeated Cristina Bucșa and Rebecca Šramková before falling to the reigning Olympic gold medalist, Zheng Qinwen in the last eight.

The Brit will aim to carry that momentum into her Eastbourne opener against American Ann Li on Tuesday, June 24. Raducanu enters the tournament as the seventh seed, and this will be her first meeting with Li.
The American last competed at the Libema Open, where she exited in the fourth round. The winner of this match will face Australia’s Maya Joint in the second round.
