With the 2025 NFL Draft now well in the books, teams are beginning to work with the players they have on the team. For the Cleveland Browns, they managed to pick up arguably the biggest slide of the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders.
Sanders, who was projected to go early in the first round at one point, slid down to the third day and finally was picked by Cleveland at No. 144 overall in the fifth round.
Unfortunately for the Browns, Sanders brought a lot of unnecessary drama with him. The son of “Coach Prime,” Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, Shedeur was recently cited for driving 102 mph. Now he has his second speeding ticket of the month and is bringing some negative attention to the Browns.
Broncos Legend Mark Schlereth Delivers Strong Warning to Shedeur Sanders Following His Off-Field Issues
Denver Broncos legend Mark Schlereth recently spoke about Shedeur and his off-field issues on his show, “Breakfast Ball on FS1,” alongside Danny Parkins and Craig Carton. Schlereth delivered a strong warning to one of the NFL’s newest superstar quarterbacks.
“You’re a fifth-round draft choice,” Schlereth says. “And it’s some of the decisions you have made. This lends credence to the criticism that he received in the pre-draft process, right? Didn’t show up prepared in meetings, didn’t catch intentional mistakes, all these little things that came out during that pre-draft process.”

According to Strongsville, Ohio, police records, an officer stopped Sanders on I-71 North around 12:24 a.m. on June 17. A report states that Sanders was driving 101 mph, 41 miles over the posted speed limit. Sanders was also cited by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on June 5 for speeding.
OSHP reports Sanders was cited for going 91 mph on June 5 in Brunswick Hills. The posted speed limit is 65. Patrol says it is not a mandatory court appearance, so he can pay the ticket.
“This is one of those things where you’re keeping your nose clean,” Schlereth said. “You’re making sure you’re doing everything the right way, because you know, being a fifth-round draft choice, that nothing is guaranteed for you.
“To me, this is a failure of the intelligence test,” he said. “At some point you got to understand the situation. You can write legendary all over the place, in your pre-draft deal, but it doesn’t make you legendary just because you’ve nicknamed yourself.
“At some point you have to have the accountability and maturity as a player to go, ‘I understand the situation I have here, and I can’t afford to give them the opportunity to go, that kid ain’t ready,'” Schlereth continued. “I want the kid to have great success. This is one of those situations though where it just lends credence to all of the turmoil we talked about coming into the draft process.”
Shedeur had a bunch of bad publicity before the draft. This could have led to him sliding down to the fifth round and, unfortunately, this kind of stuff doesn’t help the case.
