Caitlin Clark made her return to the court in style, ending a five-game absence that left Indiana Fever fans eager for her comeback. The rookie sensation wasted no time reigniting the crowd, delivering her trademark energy in a high-profile matchup against the defending champion New York Liberty.
Clark’s presence electrified Gainbridge Fieldhouse, with a packed arena and strong national viewership tuning in to witness her return. Even after a short break, her star power and entertainment factor showed no signs of slowing down.
Caitlin Clark Is An Entertainer Through and Through
After missing nearly two weeks with a quadriceps injury she suffered on May 24, Clark returned to the floor stronger than ever on June 14. She delivered a performance that had fans and media buzzing, with a record number of viewers tuning in to watch her remind the world why she’s become a transformative figure in the WNBA. The latest ratings only cement her impact.
The Fever-Liberty showdown became ABC’s third-most watched WNBA game of all time, peaking at 2.8 million viewers and averaging 2.2 million. That figure follows another ratings spike from Clark’s highly anticipated matchup against Angel Reese, where the Fever-Sky game averaged 2.7 million viewers and peaked at 3.1 million.
Clark is well aware of her drawing power. She’s a bona fide star who knows how to command attention. After a contentious battle with the Sun, Clark summed it up perfectly.
“Everybody knows that’s how I play, I want the crowd behind me,” Clark said. “They’re here for a show, and that’s what I try to give them every single night. People spend a lot of money and time to come to these games. That’s one of my favorite parts, being an entertainer in a way.”

Clark felt fresh as she returned to the court. In another interview, she said, “It almost feels like the start of a season in a way, I guess.”
Clark Plays a Physical Game To Secure a Spot in the Commissioner’s Cup
Clark delivered another standout performance Tuesday night, dropping 20 points and six assists, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Fever past the Connecticut Sun, 88-71. While the win energized the home crowd, the second half turned chippy as emotions ran high.
With just 46 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Sun guard Jacy Sheldon intercepted a pass and sprinted the other way before being wrapped up under the basket by Indiana’s Sophie Cunningham, resulting in a foul. The play quickly escalated when Sheldon jumped up and exchanged shoves with Cunningham, sparking a scuffle that led to the ejections of Sheldon, Cunningham, and Fever guard Lindsay Allen.
Earlier in the third quarter, Sheldon accidentally poked Clark in the eye, and tensions continued to rise. Later in the game, Connecticut’s Marina Mabrey shoved Clark to the ground, drawing three technical fouls in the sequence. Clark calmly sank all three free throws, pushing Indiana’s lead to 58-45 and helping them regain control.
The Fever not only took care of business against the Sun but also locked in a spot in the Commissioner’s Cup after Atlanta fell to the Liberty. Clark finished with four 3-pointers, including 12 points in the first half, and helped stretch Indiana’s lead to 20 in the final minutes.
Whether she’s lighting up the scoreboard or drawing record-breaking viewership, Clark continues to prove that her presence is a win for Indiana, for the league, and for the growing number of fans tuning in every night.
