Iga Swiatek Denies the Need for a Potential Break As She Prepares for Grass Post French Open Heartbreak

Iga Swiatek denies the need for a potential break as she prepares to enter the grass court season after 2025 French Open heartbreak.

WTA star Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek recently denied the need for a potential break amid her downfall in the ongoing season. According to the five-time Grand Slam champion, she doesn’t feel the need to take a break, as playing consistently could help her with a solution.

The admission came after her unexpected semifinal defeat against Aryna Sabalenka at Roland Garros.

Iga Świątek Says She Doesn’t Feel the Need for a Break Despite Recent Challenges

After going through a turbulent clay-court season, ÅšwiÄ…tek was asked if she would consider taking a potential break to set things right. Learning from her past experiences, the WTA star made it clear that a break is probably the last decision she would consider, as playing consistently could help regain her form.

“I don’t feel the need to take a break. And in the past, when I even felt the need for a moment, but still kept working, there were really satisfying moments. I don’t think it’s a good solution. I know how hard it is to return to the games, even after the month-long break I had [in the situation of suspension in the fall of 2024 – ed.]. I prefer to be in a rhythm and build my process,” she said, in an interview with Sport.pl.

Iga Świątek appeared to have lost her composure throughout the clay‑court swing in 2025. She suffered early exits in Stuttgart, a 6‑1, 6‑1 semifinal loss to Coco Gauff in Madrid, and a surprising third‑round defeat to Danielle Collins in Rome. She conceded nearly all points on returns and later dropped 935 ranking points.

With this, she finally ended up losing her top-three standing. The Polish player slipped to No. 5 after Rome and eventually tumbled to No. 7 after the French Open.

Swiatek Wishes To Keep Playing, but With No Expectations This Time

After the unexpected losses she incurred throughout the clay court season, ÅšwiÄ…tek was asked about the goals she plans to achieve now. Being modest about the revelation, she expressed her desire to keep playing. However, her statement also included a note about having no expectations this time around.

“I would like to go to more tournaments and have the same attitude as during Roland Garros. To implement what I have adapted to. It would also be nice to have results from it, but here I will not expect anything. At least I will work on it, so as not to fall into a known trap (smile),” she said, in the aforementioned interview.

Currently in Majorca, ÅšwiÄ…tek is preparing to enter the grass court season after a short break. However, her schedule for the near future still remains undisclosed.
