New Houston Texans running back Nick Chubb addressed the media after working out with his new team at minicamp. The player answered questions regarding his decision to join the Texans, his time on the Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland fans’ continued support for him.
The biggest talking point surrounding Chubb, though, has been his health, after a devastating knee injury halted his career in 2023. Chubb addressed those injury concerns and his outlook for 2025.
Houston Texans’ Newest RB Nick Chubb Bullish Regarding Injury History
Chubb was one of several players who spoke with the media at the Texans’ minicamp on June 11. As a new arrival, the veteran running back faced a multitude of varying questions, as local reporters aimed to get to know the team’s new recruit.
Chubb was among the very best running backs in the league before his injury. If he could return to anything close to his peak form for Houston, he would prove a huge difference-maker for the team. Asked about the effects of his injury, Chubb declared that he has been putting in the necessary work and is ready to put it all behind him.
“That’s all behind me,” Chubb said. “Injuries happen, With what I did, it takes about two years to really get back, so I’m over the hump. I’m back home. I was back home all offseason, training where I trained every year since I was in high school. I was able to get a full year in of doing the things I do best. Now, I’m feeling as good as I have been in a long time.”
Chubb’s words will be taken with a grain of salt, of course, but it’s good to hear the running back talk positively about his future in the game. A bruising, big-bodied back, Chubb should complement his new teammate, Joe Mixon, very well in Houston if he can get up to speed.
Chubb Appreciates Support of Cleveland Browns Fans
Throughout the offseason, fans of the Cleveland Browns have been pleading with their team to re-sign Chubb. The veteran had spent his entire NFL career with Cleveland before hitting free agency in March. The Browns drafted Chubb with the 35th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, and he became a fan favorite during his seven years with the team.

Asked whether he’d seen the fanbase’s online campaigning for the Browns to re-sign him, Chubb replied that he had, and that he appreciated their love for him.
“Yeah, I mean, of course I’ve seen it; we have a long history there, you know? I came there as a freshman; I gave my all for that team and that city. The fans appreciated me more than anything, and I appreciated them, too. It was a blessing to be drafted there; that’s still a part of me, no matter what.”
Chubb’s professionalism is evident when he addresses the media. His love for the Browns, and for the city of Cleveland and its people, is clear to see. He also speaks like a man who’s determined to hit the ground running with his new team in September, something his new fanbase would also love to see.
