Responding to a post about her younger brother’s admiration towards her, Gauff asserted that she “loved him.”

Later, Gauff confessed that the reception at the basketball game almost made her tear up.

“The whole arena was cheering for me, which I wasn’t expecting, just because it’s not my sport. I’m at a basketball game. It just made me realize how many people see me. This is just crazy,” Gauff said in a Tiktok. “I know in interviews, sometimes, I try to hold the emotions back, and like I’m right now trying to do ― I’m like feeling the tears coming ― it means a lot.”

Other members of the Gauff family, most notably her parents Corey and Candi, have been similarly supportive. The duo hailed the 21-year-old’s mental toughness and fighting spirit after she clawed her way back from a one-set deficit against the World No. 1 to triumph in three hard-fought sets.

In her press conference, Gauff said, “It really came down to the last few points, but overall I’m just really happy with the fight that I managed today. It wasn’t pretty, but it got the job done, and that’s all that matters.”

After her victory, Coco thanked her parents for taking on everything “from washing my clothes to keeping me grounded and giving me the belief that I can do it.”
