Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders, based on just one intangible, will hear his name called as a starter, asserts one media member. Rookies endured a flood of information and a complete change of their football knowledge during minicamp.
With dozens of plays to learn and figuring out the professional culture of the game, many players probably see their collective heads spin. Now, add in a position battle for starting reps, and you will see stress taken to a higher level. A show host truly believes that Sanders will see things break his way.
Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Predicted to Earn Start
Nothing screams summer like position battles, intrasquad competitions for the all-important starting spots. For Cleveland, four quarterbacks face off to see who starts, stays, or leaves. Sanders, a rookie, sits among three other signal callers. Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel will use their reps to sway the coaches in order to take meaningful snaps under center.
Despite Flacco winning a Super Bowl as a starter and Pickett claiming one as a backup, all eyes appear to focus on the rookie from Colorado by way of Jackson State. Colin Cowherd, host of “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” believes that the team will allow him a shot to start based on the wishes of a non-football opinion.

“In a QB room with zero star power, except for Shedeur Sanders, he’s going to get a chance,” Cowherd said. “They don’t have the Steelers’ roster or legacy. They’re not as well-run as Pittsburgh. They don’t have Joe Burrow.”
“There’s a lot of belief in the NFL that (team owner) Jimmy Haslam is the reason that, of all the teams, Cleveland finally drafted Shedeur Sanders,” Cowherd continued. “He’s desperate to be recognized and for star power. The thing that Shedeur has going for him is that Cleveland’s roster is easily the weakest in the division and the early schedule is brutal.”
First, Haslam does exude the vibe of an attention-seeking team owner. Remember, he said that a homeless man told him to pick former QB Johnny Manziel, as relayed by CBS Sports. Next, he voiced his opinion regarding the Deshaun Watson trade, one he pushed for. Whether that actually happened in the manner he stated or not, it comes across as a very odd comment.
Where Cowherd hits the nail on the head is the roster. Granted, Cleveland does possess a decent defense, but offensively, the team looks like a complete mess. Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and tight end David Njoku combined for 20 dropped passes last season. Moreover, running back Nick Chubb now plays with the Houston Texans, so the team will rely on rookies Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson to pick up the slack.
Sanders, as Cowherd states, could see the field in 2025 due to the owner craving a star quarterback to lead his team. Make no mistake, based on the schedule and dearth of talent, Sanders will see the field. Under what circumstances remains to be seen.
