Is Angel Reese Playing Tonight? Sky vs. Mercury Injury Report, Predicted Lineups, and More

Angel Reese's availability for tonight as Chicago Sky face red-hot Phoenix Mercury. Full injury report, lineups, and game preview inside.

The Chicago Sky just can’t catch a break. And tonight, they’re heading straight into the heat of the desert, hoping to dodge a fourth straight L. As the Sky take on the Phoenix Mercury at the Footprint Center, all eyes are on Angel Reese.

The Chicago Forward has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise nightmare start to the season. But will she suit up tonight? Spoiler: It’s looking good.

Chicago Sky Vs. Phoenix Mercury Injury Report

Despite the sky falling in Chicago (literally and figuratively), Angel Reese is expected to be on the court tonight. The Chicago Sky have not listed Reese on the injury report ahead of their road matchup with the Phoenix Mercury, meaning she’s good to go. It’s the best news Sky fans have gotten in what’s been a brutal 0-3 start to the season.

For Chicago, Hailey Van Lith (ankle) and Moriah Jefferson (knee) are both questionable. That leaves even more pressure on Reese, Courtney Vandersloot, and Kamilla Cardoso to step up against a Phoenix Mercury squad that’s been red-hot at home. Reese has flashed potential in her first few outings, but she’ll need help if Chicago’s finally going to get in the win column.

Phoenix Mercury, on the other hand, is chilling with a solid 3-1 record and hasn’t lost a game at home. That’s a significant stat heading into tonight’s clash, even with three names on their injury report: Murjanatu Musa (illness), Natasha Mack (lower back), and Kahleah Copper (left knee surgery). Phoenix still looks locked in.

Sky Vs. Mercury: Predicted lineups

Chicago Sky Predicted Lineup

  • Kamilla Cardoso
  • Kia Nurse
  • Angel Reese
  • Ariel Atkins
  • Courtney Vandersloot

Phoenix Mercury Predicted Lineup

  • Kathryn Westbeld
  • Satou Sabally
  • Alyssa Thomas
  • Sami Whitcomb
  • Monique Akoa Makani

The matchup might look like another ambush by Phoenix. But make no mistake, this one’s not just about who’s on the court; it’s about who wants it more.

Chicago was run out of the gym in its season opener against the Indiana Fever and followed that up with two more losses, including a 13-point defeat in their most recent game. Sure, that’s technically an “improvement,” but when you’re talking about moral victories this early in the season, you know things aren’t going great.

Talking about Mercury’s last game, they dominated the 2nd quarter with a 19-7 scoring edge, and that kind of momentum is tough to stop. If Chicago wants to even have a shot, it’ll have to clamp down defensively, especially on the perimeter.

Tip-off is at 10 p.m. ET. Let’s see if the Sky finally shows up or if Mercury keeps shining bright in Arizona.
