What Happened to Caitlin Clark? Latest Injury Update on Fever Star and Possible Return Timeline Revealed

Caitlin Clark's left quad strain will likely sideline her for two weeks. She is expected to miss the start of Indiana's Commissioner's Cup campaign

The Indiana Fever has been dealt a tough blow. Superstar Caitlin Clark has been sidelined for at least two weeks with a left quadriceps strain. The team revealed the mercurial guard’s injury in a brief statement.

Clark’s injury is a shocker because she played the entirety of the game against the New York Liberty, which Indy lost 90-88.

Fever Announce Upsetting News on Clark’s Injury

Clark’s latest injury has been diagnosed as a left quadriceps strain. The setback will now see her sidelined for two weeks at a minimum. This is a huge blow for the Fever, who will see their star guard likely miss games till June 10 (going by the statement timeline). The earliest she could suit up is against the Atlanta Dream. The other expected date is on June 14 when they play the Liberty.

“Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has suffered a left quadriceps strain and will be out a minimum of two weeks,” the official statement read. “Further updates will be provided, as available, following re-evaluation.”

The Fever’s calendar during this timeframe includes three Commissioner’s Cup showdowns — all of which Clark is likely to miss. The next games for the Fever this week is against the Washington Mystics and the Connecticut Sun.

It has been a good start to the season for the sophomore guard as she started the season with a triple-double in the drama-filled season opener against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. She is averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 9.3 assists, and 1.3 steals in her four games so far. The injury also marks the first time that Clark has missed a game in her WNBA career.

The Fever will now look at guard Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, and Sophie Cunningham to run the offense and handle the bulk of the scoring in Caitlin Clark’s absence. There is also a possibility that veteran guard Sydney Colson who was brought in as a replacement guard could fill in the role.

Clark’s absence comes as a huge upset for the Fever side that’s.500, but their depth will now have a chance to show their skills. Their slate is relatively easier with their next four opponents not off to a great start to the season. Only time will tell how the Fever will fare in her absence.
