Oilers Forward Connor Brown Injured After Taking High Hit in Game 3

Edmonton Oilers forward Connor Brown was injured after taking a questionable high hit, the second key injury of the series with the Dallas Stars.

The good news for the Edmonton Oilers is that they now have a 2-1 series lead over the Dallas Stars, thanks to their 6-1 drubbing in Edmonton, Canada, on Sunday afternoon, May 25.

The bad news is that they lost forward Connor Brown after a questionable high hit from the Stars’ forward Alex Petrovic, who appeared to make contact with his head; Brown left the game and did not return.

The incident took place during the second period; Petrovic caught Brown as he was attempting to play a loose puck along the boards.

Brown left the game and did not return. The Oilers subsequently ruled him out for the remainder of the game, which they ultimately won by a final score of 6-1. Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch was asked about Brown’s condition in his postgame press conference, but he did not have an immediate update.

The Stars and Oilers will play Game 4 of their series on Tuesday, May 27; the Stars hope to knot the series at 2-2 and avoid falling into a 3-1 hole.

Roope Hintz Out for Game 3 After a Controversial Oilers Slash

There was already one controversial play earlier in the series that resulted in an injury to a key Stars player. Forward Roope Hintz was hurt after he was slashed across the skates in Game 2 and did not return. He attempted to warm up ahead of Game 3, but he ultimately wasn’t able to play.

Hintz had to be helped off the ice, while the aggressor, Darnell Nurse, was initially assessed a five-minute major penalty that was soon downgraded to a simple two-minute minor.

It was an incident that upset the Stars, led by coach Pete DeBoer, who was completely incredulous over what had taken place.

“I’ll answer your question with a question. Does anyone in this room think if Connor McDavid gets carried off the ice like that, it’s not a five-minute major?” DeBoer responded to a media member. “That’s my answer to your question.”

“Again, if that’s 97 [McDavid] carried off the ice, in the same situation, I think we all know the answer to what that looks like for us,” DeBoer continued.

Hintz was seen wearing a walking boot following Game 2, though he wasn’t wearing it while walking into Rogers Place in Edmonton for Game 3. While he wasn’t able to play, the Stars hope that he’ll be able to do so in Tuesday’s Game 4.
