Number changes are always a fascinating topic of discussion among teammates in the NFL. For Ravens teammates Lamar Jackson and Isaiah Likely, could there be some potential for a number change?
Lamar Jackson Reacts to Isaiah Likely Wanting His Number
On a recent episode of Up & Adams, Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely brought up the idea of potentially wearing the No. 8 jersey down the road in Baltimore, especially if Lamar Jackson finds a way to bring the Ravens a title.
Jackson responded to that take on his Instagram story, saying:
“You know how ppl throw their old shoes on powerlines? That’s wat I want you to do with this idea, hang it tf up.”

If Jackson were to change his number, it would be like Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers changing their jersey numbers.
It simply wouldn’t feel right, even if it comes after the team potentially winning a title.
Will the Ravens Win a Super Bowl During Lamar Jackson’s Career?
During Jackson’s career, the Ravens have been highly consistent and, quite frankly, elite in the regular season. The Ravens have gone 70-24 in games started by Jackson in his seven-year career. In the postseason, the team is just 3-5.
While only one team can be happy, the Ravens have failed to climb the mountain over the last seven years.
Now with more help, including future Hall of Fame running back Derrick Henry, Pro Bowl tight end Mark Andrews, and a solid defense, the Super Bowl window should still be wide open.
But, Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid don’t appear to be going anywhere for the Kansas City Chiefs. Josh Allen is coming off an MVP season for the Buffalo Bills. The Cincinnati Bengals are hungry heading into this season after missing last year’s playoffs. And now, Aaron Rodgers might be headed to Pittsburgh.
The Ravens are an excellent team in the regular season, but there will always be tough teams that championship teams have to overcome. With Jackson at the helm, the Ravens will always have a chance. But the longer it takes to get the job done, the harder it could become even to reach a Super Bowl, let alone win one. Time isn’t exactly running out, but with each passing year, the pressure continues to mount.
All eyes will be on Jackson as he enters his age-29 season. Fresh off the best year of his possible Hall of Fame career, he will carry the weight of expectations from a fan base hungry for a championship.
