Superstars like Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce have been used to being in the limelight throughout their careers. However, learning to be at that level with his girlfriend, one of the most famous people on the planet, Taylor Swift, could be a different feeling.
While seeing a superstar athlete and pop star is nothing new, there has been a lot of speculation regarding what the relationship has done to his ability to perform on the field and even potentially retire.
Tony Romo has experience in this field and gave his opinion regarding the whole Swift and Kelce romance.
Tony Romo Discusses Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift Romance
During an exclusive interview with ‘Us Weekly‘, NFL color analyst Tony Romo discussed how, even though it can appear Kelce and Swift are going out more often, they likely are not, and this could be viewed as a positive.
“People won’t even realize this, but he’s probably doing less than he used to when he was younger. … He’s far less out there. He’s doing far less things than when he was younger. It’s just the fact that if you’re written about a lot and it’s not about football, some people are always going to think that plays a role. But the truth is that it can be a net positive if you look at it closely.”
Romo has experience in being involved romantically with a superstar, as he dated Jessica Simpson from 2007 to 2009 while being the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.
“Not that [Kelce] has to do anything. The guy is a [future] Hall of Famer who has played at the highest level. He’s won Super Bowls. He’s made some of the biggest plays in the most clutch situations ever. I think he’ll figure things out real quick, even if there was something to figure out. I think everyone should just put their trust in him.”
Kelce had the worst statistical season of his career last season. In 16 games, he finished with 97 receptions on 133 targets for 823 yards (8.5 yards per catch) and three receiving touchdowns. There were rumors that the 2024 season could be the finale of his career, but the 10-time Pro Bowler announced he would play for his 13th NFL season in 2025.
The couple has been together since the summer of 2023, and Swift has appeared at numerous Chiefs games since the relationship became public. It will be interesting to see if Kelce can step up this season and get that narrative off his back.
