Colston Loveland Praises His New QB

The Bears are constructing the team from the ground up, so building chemistry early is crucial considering all the rookies and predominantly younger players on this squad. Loveland and Williams, a rookie tight end and a second-year quarterback, seem to be doing just that.

Since arriving in Chicago, Loveland has had nothing but great things to say about Williams, the first overall selection in 2024. However, for the first time, Loveland opened up about his relationship with his quarterback, and his comments are sure to have Bears fans itching to watch the two connect on the field in 2025.

When Kay Adams asked about the dynamic of his relationship with his best friend, Williams, Loveland praised his quarterback.

“It’s been good, he’s super cool, you can tell he definitely does everything the right way. He’s always grinding in the playbook, having walkthroughs, calling us in. So it’s been great, I’m excited to get out there and kinda get things rolling.” Loveland said.

Loveland’s comments are all things you want to hear from your top-10 selection and future at the tight-end position if you are a Bears fan.

Two of the Bears’ highest selections in recent years are making it a point to grow their relationships not only on the field, but also off of it. This is greatly important for two guys who expect to be in Chicago for many years to come.

The pair’s chemistry is important, not only because they are two younger players in the league who were drafted near the top of their respective classes, but also because of the positions they play.

A tight bond between a quarterback and his tight end is vital, as the latter is widely viewed as the quarterback’s safety blanket. Not only will Loveland need to make plays for himself, but he will also be expected to support his quarterback and find holes when every other option has been shut down.

Loveland’s comments about Williams were a glimpse into the already strong bond between the two premium draft selections. But the comments also spoke wonders of Williams’ leadership, hinting that the two could become a dangerous duo together.

Loveland and Williams Are a Duo With Sky-High Potential

The upside for both Loveland and Williams is incredibly high, but a growing bond and the will to teach and learn from one other makes them all the more dangerous together.

The most impressive thing that has been said about Williams in his first offseason as a QB with a full year under his belt has been the mature leadership he has shown, something every team desires from their quarterback. It is all the more special given that Williams is only 23 entering his sophomore season.

Both players are loaded with talent, but their growth together, not just as playmakers, but as leaders, could make them truly dangerous. As their bond strengthens, so does the foundation of something special in Chicago.

Fans could be hearing “Williams to Loveland” for a long time.
