Furthermore, even non-Lynx fans were appreciating Collier’s effort. Despite Collier beating their own team, many WNBA fans are aware of how impressive the forward’s game is.
“I hate her so bad. We will see you again,” one person wrote.
“Hate it had to be us but she’s so cold!” another user added.
Collier, WNBA Phenom Caitlin Clark Are Among Top MVP Contenders
While Collier has made a strong jump on the WNBA MVP list, she’s not the only contender.
As of now, Collier, Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson, and Indiana Fever icon Caitlin Clark are the frontrunners for the award.
Clark, the 2024 Rookie of the Year, commenced her season with a triple-double against the Chicago Sky. Pitted against Reese and the Sky, Clark’s team emerged with a 93-58 blowout win. Clark finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
The performance was enough to skyrocket Clark’s MVP odds, with people betting on the phenom to win the award in her sophomore year.
Wilson, another fan favorite, is a prime candidate after her 31-point, 16-rebound, and three-assist performance against the New York Liberty. While Liberty won the game 92-78, Wilson’s on-court show was hard to miss.
Liberty star forward Breanna Stewart and guard Sabrina Ionescu are the two other viable MVP candidates.
Though one final winner is difficult to declare so soon, Collier is a probable choice for many.
Furthermore, Collier is the 2024 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, a four-time WNBA All-Star, and co-founder of the Unrivaled league with Stewart.
The Wings’ next game is scheduled on Wednesday, May 21, against the Lynx.
