‘One of the Sweetest People’ — Caitlin Clark Reveals the Real Side of Taylor Swift After Chiefs Game Hangout

Caitlin Clark shares her thoughts on hanging out with Taylor Swift at a Kansas City Chiefs postseason game.

Caitlin Clark has made it clear she’s a Kansas City Chiefs fan. Growing up less than three hours from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, it was almost inevitable. But the Indiana Fever guard is just as open about her love for another pop culture powerhouse: Taylor Swift.

Clark, who has called herself a “Swiftie,” got the ultimate crossover moment when she joined the 14-time Grammy Award winner — also the girlfriend of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce — in her suite for the AFC Divisional Round game. The Chiefs beat the Houston Texans 23-14, and Clark was right there, soaking it in with Swift and her family.

Caitlin Clark Discusses Hanging Out With Taylor Swift at Chiefs Game

Clark spoke about that experience with ESPN’s Alexa Philippou ahead of her sophomore WNBA season. The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year said her night at Arrowhead with Swift was as real and relaxed as it gets.

“I think what people don’t always realize about people with a certain spotlight, whether it’s her, whether it’s me, whether it’s another professional athlete or a pop star, we’re real people,” Clark said. “We’re just having normal conversations as any other person in Arrowhead Stadium that night. She loves the Chiefs just as much as I do. I’m talking football with her.

“She loved it, and just like her passion, and honestly, probably one of the sweetest people I’ve ever been around. And everybody says that when you meet her, but it’s really true. She just treats everybody with the same amount of kindness, and her family was great.”

Clark’s general manager in Indiana, Amber Cox — also a die-hard Chiefs fan — added that the former Iowa star was humble about the experience. According to Cox, Clark briefly mentioned it and quickly turned her attention back to her workout.

Clark’s first WNBA offseason has been a blend of star-studded moments and hard work. Even with big headlines off the court, she’s been focused on improving her game.

Last season, Clark played in all 40 games for the Fever. She put up 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and a league-leading 8.4 assists per game. She also added 1.3 steals and 0.7 blocks per game, shooting 41.7% from the field, 34.4% from three and 90.6% from the line.

Indiana finished 20-20, locking up the sixth seed and making the playoffs for the first time since 2016. They were swept in the opening round by the Connecticut Sun. Since then, the Fever have made roster changes and brought in a new head coach to try to take that next step with Clark leading the charge.

Now entering Year 2, Clark looks ready to build on her standout rookie campaign — both on and off the court.
